Photo by Sarah Stier/Getty Images The Knicks took to the mics to celebrate a Game 2 win over a hapless Sixers team whose future is ominous. The Knicks swept the Sixers on their initial two-game homestand of the first-round series between the No. 2 and the No. 7 seeds out East. New York and MSG went radio silent for a minute, but that was only to build some tension before the grand finale the Knicks had in store and cooking in the oven, as much as Joel Embiid and Nick Nurse loathed the outcome. Here is what some Knickerbockers had to say after the affair that saw NYK go up two entering Game 3 ..read more

Photo by Nathaniel S. Butler/NBAE via Getty Images The Knicks give Philly no option, take a commanding 2-0 lead, and look at a series sweep. There have been many Game Threads and other posts published here at P&T that have generated thousands upon thousands of comments. Yesterday’s was one for the ages, such as the Knicks 104-101 win over the Philly Cheesesteaks. I didn’t want to be overly picky with the headline on this historic day, so I just went into the comments section and picked the single post with the most likes among them all, courtesy of Kappo_Cocoa-24: “We just Reggie Millered ..read more

Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports It sure looked like it in Game One. Things got off to a bleak start for New York on Saturday evening, as Joel Embiid and the Sixers started wreaking havoc almost immediately after tip off. After a frustrating first quarter, the Knicks found themselves down by nine, 34-25. Joel Embiid already had 15 points, and was getting to the foul line at will. The Knicks were playing with their usual intensity, but it wasn’t showing on the scoreboard. They were having trouble scoring the ball, and needed a real spark. Help arrived in the form of Deuce McBride and Bojan Bogdano ..read more

Photo by Danielle Parhizkaran/The Boston Globe via Getty Images No third honor for the Knick’s skipper despite a 50-win season. The NBA has revealed the finalists for the 2023-24 Coach of the Year, but Tom Thibodeau of the New York Knicks was notably absent from the list. Despite the Knicks securing a 50-32 record and the second seed in the Eastern Conference, overcoming significant injuries to key players, Thibodeau was puzzlingly ignored. This year’s COTY nominees are Mark Daigneault (Oklahoma City Thunder), Chris Finch (Minnesota Timberwolves), and Jamahl Mosley (Orlando Magic). Knicks guar ..read more

The Knicks played on Saturday and were already practicing on Sunday ahead of Game 2, scheduled to tip-off on Monday evening at MSG. New York will try to go up two before flying to Philly on a Sixers team that looked great with Joel Embiid but which dearly missed him when he sat during stretches of Game 1. Here is what a few Knickerbockers said on Sunday, as well an Embiid little update. Tom Thibodeau On Deuce McBride’s mentality and skill set... “If you’re looking at it ..read more

Three standouts from the Knicks’ Game 1 victory over Philly

Photo by Elsa/Getty Images An unexpected trio arose to rip a win from the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers have a great medical staff. They’ve had a doctor named J, and a nurse named Nick, and what they need now is a cardiologist to deal with their Josh Hart issue. When the Knicks beat the 76ers 111-104 in Game 1 of their playoff series yesterday, Hart was indeed a lion who roared the loudest in the clutch, making timely hoops and big effort plays to conquer his prey. And yet, team contributions are required to win in the wilds of the postseason. With Philly taking big swings, New York received ..read more
