Festival goers can easily walk up to 10 miles a day, often on uneven, muddy ground, and in wellies for days on end. This is an ideal mix to increase your risk of causing a foot or ankle problem. Wearing wellies Due to the rubber material of wellies, this means they have little to no breathability for your feet, moisture accumulates within the boot. This warm, moist, dark environment is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. Podiatrists Advice: To help reduce the amount of sweat which can linger on your feet, wear thick cotton or wool socks, avoid synthetic materials such as nylon ..read more

In recent years we have seen an increase in number of patients complaining of stabbing type pains in the ball of the foot, that may spread forwards into the toes. Patients may find quick relief by removing the shoes and massaging the foot and it seems aggravated by shoes that restrict and compress the forefoot. When patients describe the above symptoms or similar, my immediate thought is that it may be neurological (in relation to the nerves which control function and sensation). Certainly one of the most common causes of this type of pain is something called a Morton’s Neuroma. The Morton’s ..read more
