We felt bad about arriving at this campground on Thanksgiving day. That meant the camp host had to interrupt her holiday to check us in since the office was closed. We learned that we were the first of seven check-ins that day and the camp host was very cordial, friendly and welcoming to us. One of our goals is to never arrive at home after a Rosie adventure late in the day. (Rosie is the name of our Airstream trailer.) Since we cannot store Rosie at home, we have to empty and clean Rosie before taking it back to the storage facility. We waited until checkout time before we left our wonderful site in a military FamCamp and headed west for our next Rosie adventure. (Rosie is the name of our Airstream trailer.) Gulf State Park was less than an hour away, so we didn’t have to rush to get there.  We have a running joke about Gulf State Park's campground. Before discussing our adventures in this campground, we need to talk about an event that happened since our last trip in Rosie, our Airstream trailer.  We store Rosie inside a warehouse we call “Fort Rosie.” Of course, the owner of that facility has another name for it. We occasionally drop by to see Rosie while parked in storage. These visits are more for our peace of mind. On one of our visits to Fort Rosie, we noticed that the new property owner had a crew painting the warehouse buildings. We knew that our trip home from the Blue Ridge area would be difficult because we had to pull Rosie, our Airstream trailer, through Atlanta and there is no optimum time to to travel Atlanta's roads. Both Google and Apple Maps were optimistic and suggested that traffic flowed without problems through Atlanta. We had reservations in one of Duckett Mill COE (Corps of Engineers) campground's 108 campsites. Then we received an email from Recreation.gov saying that campground was closed for the season.  Out first thought was that the campground was about to be renovated, but that didn’t explain why they confirmed our reservations only to cancel them later. Then we started seeing people comment on several online forums that their reservations at other COE campgrounds in Georgia were also canceled. I knew the camping loop we wanted when I called to make reservations in this military FamCamp. There was only one site available for more than a week, so I quickly booked it. We were exposed to COVID and decided to leave the Cajun Caravan one day earlier than planned. We called All About Relaxing RV Park to see if we could arrive a day earlier than our reservations. The park was full, but we could stay in their overflow area with 50 amp power and water connections. We quickly agreed and hitched up for an early morning departure.  We left Louisiana before sunrise. Nearly everyone on a WBCCI Caravan has an opportunity to help the group through an assigned task and our duty was to serve as parkers at this campground. That meant we left our last campground two hours earlier than the other members and traveled to this park with the caravan leaders.
