A Hearty Hello Groovers! How are you all? I hope you’re doing well! It feels like Spring is finally upon us which is exciting, even if the famous grey skies of Brittania still have their hold over your locale! I have been very kindly offered the use of a villa in southern Portugal for 3 weeks as I start winding down for my little sabbatical, and whilst here, I thought I’d take advantage of the sunshine and all the beautiful golf courses across the region. It’s been so fun re-engaging with a sport I absolutely loved as a kid. Not only has it been a really good lesson in reconnecting with thi ..read more

Hello Gang, Hope your Vedic Meditation is going beautifully. Please forgive the delay since our last post, running our first retreat for two years ended up being a massive endeavour, and seeing lots of old friends whilst temporarily back in the UK meant I was away from my keyboard and our online meditation courses more than usual! Throughout this last month, I’ve been wanting to write a blog about the destructive effects of carrying a chip on your shoulder, and similarly of romanticising the past. And to illustrate the point, I will be using the subject matter of everyone’s least favourite ..read more

Recognising Ego

Hello Campers, Hope you are well and that your transcendental meditation (in London or online) is going beautifully. I’ve often been fascinated by the propensity of both psychologists and spiritual aficionados to reference the ego, and it’s apparently destructive influence. It’s also been interesting to grow up with some sense of what the ego was, without anyone ever really explaining what it was. We sort of end up with this second hand legacy of what it might be, with a vague sense that someone with a bolshy demeanour possesses a self evident ego problem. However, as I’ve come to realise ..read more

Everything is Information

Hey Peeps! Cognitive reframing is a strategy in which we recognise and change our perspective on circumstances and emotions. It is a process that challenges and changes thoughts. As always, hoping you’re rocking and rolling in life using all the skills you have learned from your meditation courses, and if not, that you are least learning and growing through whatever challenges may be presenting themselves. In our most recent post, we briefly touched upon the idea that much could be read between the lines about Russia’s posturing. That is just one example of how ‘everything is information ..read more

Hey Groovers, How are we all doing? I hope you’re all feeling empowered to make 2023 a stellar year with consistent practice of your mindful meditation! I was enjoying a chat with someone recently who I’m finding myself increasingly intrigued by and attracted to, and as inevitably happens with these things, you review what has been said and occasionally think ‘doh!’…usually followed by a ‘I wish I hadn’t said that!’ or a ‘I wish I’d said that instead! or ‘why can’t I ever be that witty in the moment!”. I get the impression that sometimes people really beat themselves up about it, and often ..read more

“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you are choosing the side of the oppressor” – Desmond Tutu Hello Groovers, Hope you are all well and that your Vedic meditation is going beautifully. Before we go any further with this blog, I’d love you all to consider the words of the dear Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who of course recently passed away. Please take a moment to see how this statement lands with you. I saw this quote posted recently by someone from our community, and it received widespread plaudits from their followers, but it left me wondering if it really is as self evident as ..read more

Hello Groovers, Hope you are well and enjoying benefits of meditation. A couple of months ago a certain Mr Zuckerberg announced the new brand name for his company, giving it the rather grandiose title of Meta. I was super intrigued by the title, because he seems to represent the absolute antithesis of what I consider ‘meta’ to be – which in its original Greek meaning, was used to describe something that was ‘beyond’ what exists. Metaphysics for example, tends to refer to those phenomonologies that cannot be readily explained through the lens of rationality. It goes beyond the realm of what ..read more

Hello Campers, Hope you are well and that your vedic meditation is going beautifully. There are plenty of other benefits of meditation as well. A somewhat briefer instalment for you today, but hopefully no less thought provoking. Firstly, I want us all to ask ourselves the question, do we agree that a person should not be subjected to prejudice or abuse for being born a certain way? Take a minute to consider your answer….. Find an upcoming course I’m imagining most people are in agreement with the above statement, which is why I find it so intriguing that people born into money are frequ ..read more

Justification

Howdy Groovers, I hope you’re all well and your mindful meditation is going beautifully. For this week’s contribution I wanted to talk about the subject of justification. For we all find ourselves engaging in it, a lot more regularly than we realise. At times it’s knowing, oftentimes it’s not. And of course, we also find ourselves on the receiving end of it, whether it be from friends, lovers, or indeed politicians who are trying to save their careers! Sometimes there is reason, logic, or genuine emotional truth behind them. But mostly, it’s actually our defence mechanisms, our ego, our sh ..read more
