1972 Land Yacht - Conversion to Office

I've come into ownership of a 1972 Land Yacht. We are renovating an office building, and plan to put the Airstream inside the building and convert it into a meeting room/office. Anyone have experience with this type of conversion? All electrical and HVAC will come from the building. No plumbing will be needed. Just turning it into a cool meeting space. Looking for any advice/thoughts. In looking for a company to help with this - their are a few very well respected Airstream companies in the area, but their backlogs stretch out over the next 1-2years. So I'm looking for a company/individual th ..read more

Should My Airstream's AC Units Turn Off Like Home AC Units When Desired Temperature Is Reached?

Need a quick refresher on the AC units. In the home, AC units turn off automatically once the desired temperature is reached. However, I've noticed that in my Airstream, the AC units seem to keep running even after the set temperature is achieved. Is this normal behavior for Airstream AC units, or should they be turning off just like a home AC unit once the desired temperature is reached? I'm wondering if there might be something wrong with my units or if this is just how they operate. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/jdradford [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Do you wave at other Airstreams?

When you are towing your AS, do you wave at other drivers with Airstreams? Help me settle this debate with my husband. He thinks that I'm the only one who waves, and everyone else is just waving back to be nice. I think it a standard practice. submitted by /u/mole-of-avocados [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Anyone know the size of the Airstream on "the Lost Kitchen"? I see it has a hatch, so I'm guessing 25 or 27 foot Flying cloud. Feedback on Airstream Interstate

My wife and I are retired and we travel frequently. Our biggest issue is we have a couple dogs that don’t do well with kenneling so we use Air B&Bs across the country that accept pets. We recently looked and an Airstream interstate and were attracted to it from the perspective of being able to spend and night or two on the road and the ability for the non driver to be more comfortable in transit. An added plus is we could leave the dog in the van (with temp monitoring of course) while on the road, for lunch etc. We have looked at buying a larger RV but don’t want to drive it and prefer a ..read more

Tacoma or Ranger?

Need opinions: My friend just bought a 22’ airstream and is moving across the country and wants a smaller truck to keep for when they are settled. I suggested a F150 but that is too big for their preference. Can a new Tacoma or Ranger tow this length airstream 1,500 miles across the country successfully? And if yes which truck is best? Hitch weight: 393lbs Unit base weight: 3634 Gross vehicle rating: 4500lbs This sounds like a 6th grade math equation…. Appreciate any input! submitted by /u/Possible_Music_5737 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Repair thoughts? 2020 Basecamp 16x

I’m curious if this is worth having repaired at airstream with replacement panels or just DIY getting it “good enough.” I bought this yesterday and I’m trying to determine the best course of action. I’m fairly handy with the steel if I try to DIY it. But I have no experience repairing RVs. submitted by /u/uber_ambulance_same [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
