Chelsea have reached a verbal agreement to sign 17 year old winger Easêvão Willian from Brazilian side Palmeiras. The teenager, who is reported to be keen on the move, will cost the West London side ₤27.5 million plus add-ons, although FIFA regulations mean that he will not be able to join his new employers before he turns 18 in August. Although they are yet to hold official talks with Palmeiras, Chelsea have acted quickly to head off competition for the player with Arsenal and Barcelona both also interested in him. He began his career with Cruzeiros before joining the Palmeiras academy, wher ..read more

Arsenal are set to offload Brazilian winger Marquinhos. He was signed from São Paolo in 2022, with the Gunners hoping that he could make the same impression at the Emirates as his compatriot Gabriel Martinelli. But after several encouraging cameo performances in the Europa League, his fortunes have taken a turn for the worse, and his two subsequent loan spells have been very underwhelming. He spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship with Norwich City, where he managed just one goal in 11 appearances for the club. And he played even fewer games for Nantes in the first h ..read more

Chelsea’s strategy of recruiting the best young South American talent is about to go a step further. Reports from São Paolo suggests they have sent one of heir legal executives to the city to secure the signature of Estavao Willian, a left-footed winger who is only 16, and is currently on the books of Palmeiras. Despite his tender age, he has a termination release clause in his contract of up to ₤50 million, which Chelsea are prepared to meet. Only 70% of this fee will go the Brazilian club, with Estavao’s family owning the rest of his rights. PSG were also heavily interested in the player, b ..read more

Chelsea appear to have won the race to sign another Brazilian wonderkid in the form of Gabriel Moscardo, the 18 year old midfielder who currently plays for Corinthians. He is set to become the latest in an increasingly long line of talented young Brazilians to head to Stamford Bridge, following in the footsteps of Deivid Washington, Andrey Santos and Angelo Gabriel who have made the same journey in the past 12 months. The fee is reported to be ₤22 million, which, if true, would be the highest transfer sum the Brazilian club has ever received for one player, although this does include incentiv ..read more

Arsenal have scouted Fluminense midfielder, who has just won the Copa Libertadores for the first time with his club, having beaten Boca Juniors in the weekend’s final. And that means that they will now compete in the Club World Cup in December, where they could play Manchester City in the final. He will stay and play in that tournament, but he is expected to be on the move soon afterwards, having reached an agreement with Fluminense that he will be allowed to leave at the end of their domestic season. Liverpool have been tracking him for some time, and they have already had on offer of ₤26 mi ..read more

Arsenal will have only limited funds to spend in the January window, as they are struggling to stay within Financial Fair Play guidelines. That does not mean there are no plans to strengthen the squad in January, and links with defensive midfielder André Trinidade, currently playing for Fluminense, persist. The visit by Edu Gaspar, the Arsenal technical director to Fluminense’s training ground during the international break has only fuelled speculation that the Brazilian, who is also the subject of interest from Liverpool, could be bound for the Premier League. And, in order to free up space ..read more

Thiago Silva has hinted that he is set to return to Brazil next season. At 39 years old, the Chelsea defender is now the oldest active player in the Premier league, but he is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in June, and he is already thinking about the future. But, if he is not offered a new deal, rather than hang up his boots, he may instead go back to the club where it all started for him, Fluminense. He was part of their academy system as a boy, and went onto become a first team pro for them between 2006 and 2009. He won the Copa de Brasil Cup with them in 2007. Arsenal are tracking Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade, who is also of interest to Liverpool. The 22 year old was the subject of an enquiry by Jurgen Klopp’s side in the summer, but Arsenal may now be looking to hijack that move, after their technical director was spotted at the traing ground of his current club, Fluminense during the international break. Edu Gaspar was there ostensibly to learn more about the club’s training methods and philosophy, but it would be no surprise if he were to have combined that with some discussion on individual players as well. The Gunners have had some succ ..read more

Brazilian teenager Pedrinho is being linked with a move to Arsenal. Still just 17, Pedrinho is a right footed left winger who plays his club football for Corinthians. He has already played 15 teams for their first team this season and has managed five goals for them so far. Already drawing comparisons with Ronaldinho, he has played for Brazil already at under 16 level. He has a £43.5 million release clause in his contract, although Brazilian clubs traditionally need money and are prepared to sell players for a lot less. Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos could re-join Vasco de Gama on loan for the rest of the season. The Brazilian under-20 international only joined the Premier League side from Vasco in January, but they were unable to secure a work permit for him  having subsequently signed several other midfielders. Appeals for an exception to be made as he is a rare talent were rejected. He had been linked with a move to another Brazilian side Palmeiras, but talks over a loan move to them have subsequently collapsed. They could face potentially face competition for a player who was one of the stars of B ..read more
