Why doing nothing encourages the mind to stray to the dark side….

Okay, so whilst I won’t get extreme biological on this one, what I will say is this. The brain is so powerful, it doesn’t even understand its own strength. We sleep, we think we aren’t doing much. In fact, that’s actually when we are most active; psychologically. Which for anyone with a mental health problem, things can get scary. So there is a set of networking neurons called Default Mode Network (DMN); essentially this team work when you aren’t working. So when we are relaxing, mindlessly wondering about pretty much nothing, these guys are slaving away trying to create images, emotions that ..read more

Pushing myself off the edge of anxiety and fear (Skydive Story).

Here was the moment I realised I was still controlled by fear. Anyone will tell you that anxiety, in the right time, place and context is necessary. I will be the first to say that my anxiety is still something I feel is very much needed within my life. Unlike before, anxiety is now a passing acquaintance I see every now and again and greet with a humble smile. Anxiety used to be my best friend, but the kind of best friend you hated having around. The toxic friendship that was just nothing but a burden on every occasion. The one that brought you down and you didn’t even realise they did – un ..read more

I have finally let go...

I’ve gained empowerment by letting go… This week, rather one day, I grew up. Not just grow but I grew up and outwards. My height to see a picture beyond the short term path. I was able to look beyond the foreground and be excited by prosperous future choices. As someone who would grown and grumble when someone asked ‘what are your plans after uni’, to know start activity planning it. It makes me feel that I am doing something right if I am excited about my future journey. I grew outwards by building my head health from the dynamics around me. Mental changes are the ones that make me feel bigg ..read more

From the person who hated someone else’s smile.

It is no secret that when I was growing up, I had a really sad, inner self -pity, depressed mentality from the ages of 14 to 18. Of course, not continuous but like swings and round-a-bouts it came and went through the life situations that arose during my teenage years. One thing I didn’t notice at the time of my deepest, lowest headspace but often referred back to was my hatred for other people that were ‘visibly’ happy when I was not. People laughing in the street, humans showing affection to eachother, someone smiling at me. I hated them all. When I wasn’t happy, I hated people even more f ..read more

Mental Health: why we aren't talking about it more.

Mental health. We all have a mental state to upkeep. For majority of people in the world, mental health can be maintained without too much distress. It is highly reported time and time again that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in the course of their lifetime. THAT IS A LOT OF PEOPLE. Even if that directly doesn't apply to you, you will no someone. I think the problem with mental health is that, it is, very personal. And an experience with mental health is like no others. No one to compare to. Treat it as individual and unique as the person it affects. Because, mental hea ..read more

Burnout of a happy life.

I’ve already spoken about having a busy life and learning to manage that. So maybe I feel a little silly and stupid that I am already writing a post about burning out, and why its scary. When I started working in the fitness industry, everyone warned me ‘don’t become burnt out’. I laughed and smiled it off, of course I could handle the level of responsibility it was to look after myself in terms of managing work, training, uni and other projects. It’s very easy to keep saying ‘yes’ to things you love. I am extremely grateful that my job is something I am willingly to say ‘yes’ many times again ..read more

Why this generation needs a digital detox

Not that I’m speaking for everyone amongst my age group, and actually I’m still surprised at how many people I know my age that don’t use social media. But nevertheless there is still an extremely high percentage that use social media – almost excessively. As someone who’s average screen time was 9 hours. 9 HOURS?!? That was a disgustingly shocking amount of time wasted on my phone. I cant even really tell you want ‘productive’ rubbish I would spend that much time on, but honestly it would just be endless scrolling of Instagram and never endling liking or updating people on my life, which fran ..read more
