Flat wasn't ready for check in. Compensation? [UK]

Hey, our Airbnb was not ready when we tried to check in. Lockbox was empty... After phoning the company (they've got a service hotline) I found out that the cleaning was not finished yet. After a few phone calls I could get in 1.5 hours later than planned. What irritates me is that I did not get notified about the later check in and only found out after opening the empty lockbox and phoning them. And they did apologize but did not offer any compensation. After explaining that I would like to drop off my bags and get the flat asap I could get in after 1.5 instead of 2 hours as they told me. Is it okay for a guest to ask a host to remove/move a decoration before checking in? [usa]

I’m going to a tiny cabin for one night this weekend and there is a big cow rug that you cannot avoid stepping on at the entrance. Would it be rude for me to ask the host to move it for that visit? Animal skins can make me uncomfortable, but that was the only place I could book for the weekend . I would be willing to pay extra, but I don’t want to upset them. submitted by /u/Future-Tax-285 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello, I booked for a hostel through Airbnb (graded 4.5/5 stars and the reviews were very positive). The payment had gone through and the host had sent me a message confirming the stay about 2 days ago. Today, I received a message saying: “Unfortunately, your reservation may be canceled due to updates in rules. Regularly in such occurrences, the service will ask to verify your payment method and confirm your holder's identity. You can authenticate by using the personal link (Link by bnb-online with a bunch of numbers and confirm payment). If you wish to hold the reservation, you must do so wi ..read more

I’m looking to rent this beautiful home with some acreage to take some pictures in the home as well as outside on the property. Full disclosure they will be…let’s say risqué in nature lol but I wasn’t sure if this was allowed or not. I didn’t want to be the girl in court faces civil penalties for infringing on some sort of copyright law or something of that nature. Does anyone know the rules on this? submitted by /u/natoshannastycontent [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

As a host, how is your management fees calculated? [US]

Does your management company charge you x% over gross income, or gross income minus cleaning fees? Mine is 22% after city, state taxes, and channel fees and processing fees. So roughly it’s 18% over gross income. The cleaning fees are high. 309 per cleaning for a 3700+ SQFT house I’m only netting less than 40% of gross income. 15% goes to city & state taxes. Roughly 20% to property management. 20% to cleaners. 5% to miscellaneous (security system, pest control whatnot) Am I getting fleeced? submitted by /u/PoeticJuices [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Me and my 3 other friends are interested in staying in an airbnb for 1 night. One of our parents are going to book to it, and one of us is also over 18. Would this be allowed? Or does the parent have to stay with us? submitted by /u/Initial_Anxiety5739 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Long story short I was looking to book an airbnb for my family from various parts of the country so we can attend my finance’s stag party and nieces 2nd birthday, messaged the host, answered his questions and was quickly denied from booking. While I completely understand they have every right to approve or deny all requests, their reason for denying just seemed odd. Below is our conversation. Host: Would love to know what you're planing for the weekend and make sure the house will meet your needs! Me: I figured it had to be a mistake haha! And then do you allow 2 dogs? Hi all, looking to get a perspective from some more people on a situation Im involved in. I booked an airbnb for 1 month, Im here for work. On the booking there was a page that included all house rules and they were all pretty easy to follow simple rules. I booked it. Non refundable under all circumstance. Well, I arrived at the airbnb and there is an entirely different set of rules listed on a piece of paper near the doorway. Some of the same rules are repeated, however there are a lot that were not present on the booking page. One of those rules states "In the unfortunate circumstance that ..read more

So back in March i stayed at an airbnb and was charged $600 for damage to a bed frame, i paid $300 because i felt that $600 was way to much for . Airbnb finally finished their review and told me that they decided not to charge me because of me not being at fault and that the Host's protection from Airbnb was used fully to support the host, and so i figured that only means that I was able to get the $300 back but when i asked for a refund they said that i wouldn't be getting one and that the $300 was used towards the damage. It's just annoying because their customer service "specialist" was no ..read more

Hello! I realize in the scheme of the things everyone else is posting about this is pretty small potatoes. But I'm frustrated nonetheless so we'll see if any Reddit wisdom helps. I had a lovely stay recently at an Airbnb. They had a no makeup on the white towels rule. Got it, we used the navy ones. We also ended up having some intense travel delays which I communicated very clearly about and asked if it would be more convenient for them if we checked in in the morning (at this point it was getting quite late). I was texting them every half hour with travel updates. I write a nice review becau ..read more
