An exciting and transformational two-year partnership has today been announced between the CareTech Foundation and Motivation. The partnership will help us to support disabled people in Kenya to access wheelchairs and improve understanding and delivery of their rehabilitation needs and rights.  The need is critical. In Kenya, there is a huge gap in services and support for an estimated 100,000 people living with the impact of spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, childhood polio, and other mobility disabilities. Without appropriate volunteers, care, and services, wheelchair users ..read more

Nelson Mandela said, ‘Sport has the power to unite people’... Our All-Stars Project did just that. In December 2019, we launched a UK Aid Match appeal to raise funds for a project to work with disabled children in Uganda.   Currently, only 9% of children with disabilities in Uganda attend primary school, compared to a national average of 92%, so intervention and action were needed.   In total, we raised an amazing £442,205 including £216,861 of matched funding from the UK Government.  In Uganda, disabled children often lack the equipment and support they ..read more

For the first four months of her life she was in hospital, as she had malaria. The doctors did not explain anything about her condition to me or my wife, they just discharged her and told us she had a spine problem. When I went to ask them why she did not cry, they told me I would just have to wait and that she may or may not develop the ability to cry. My wife left me when my daughter was eight months ol ..read more

We asked one of our loyal supporters Sarah three questions about why she supports Motivation. Here's what she said: Why do you support Motivation?  We first heard of Motivation when we saw a wheelchair designed by David in the Design Museum in London. We travelled a lot with my teenage nephew, Sam who was a wheelchair user so I was intrigued. I looked up the charity and learned of the goal of enabling accessibility for those in less developed countries. We were so conscious that our nephew, Sam had had a start of the art-powered wheelchair provided by a charity in the UK and thought the l ..read more
