Everybody knows that people work for money. A lot of managers know that people are inherently lazy and will do as little as they can get away with, for their pay. Your people will welcome your new-found openness. All the while checking your authenticity. But, if you want people to open up, be creative, and give their whole selves to the task…..you simply have to lead the way. Transformational leadership is capable of transforming performance. This Leader does not put his or her ideas before the Team. The Team contribute on the same level as the leader and all ideas are valued. Have you ever been in a brainstorming meeting where after a couple of hours excited, passionate creativity the Leader summarises, and their preferred idea is chosen? Being a democratic Leader means having to choose an idea that you “know” is not as good as your own. But success is created from good ideas passionately implemented. The Leader has to be careful not to use this on a decision that could go dreadfully wrong and bust the business! A delicate balanc ..read more
