Life wouldn’t be the same with Valley and he is back in Orange The Steelers are delighted to confirm the return of fan favourite Marco Vallerand for the 2024-25 season. It will be Vallerand’s 5th season with the club, a player who was part of the teams 2020 Challenge Cup success and last season’s Grand Slam. Vallerand tied Mitchell Balmas with 32 goals in all competitions last season, his overall record in the Elite League is also outstanding, notching 138 goals and 287 points in 243 games (for Sheffield and the Coventry Blaze). The Elite Leagues Leading Points Scorer Back in Orange The Elite Leagues leading point scorer, Mitchell Balmas is returning to the Sheffield Steelers next season after signing a new one year contract that will also see the sharpshooter further his education with Sheffield Hallam University. Another Grand Slammer Returns It’s a 5th Steelers season in Orange for Brandon Whistle after the forward agreed terms with head coach Aaron Fox to come back and defend the Grand Slam Whistle joined the Steelers back in 2018 and then left for a year in Telford, the Covid non season and a year with Leeds Knights that also coupled with a return to Steelers colours. Matt Greenfield agrees a new deal with the Grand Slam Champions. The Elite League’s number one goalie, Matt Greenfield is back with the Steelers for another year after agreeing a new deal with head coach Aaron Fox. Greenfield not only led all Elite League goalie stats in both the league and Challenge Cup, but he was also named the league’s MVP last season after backstopping the Steelers to a Grand Slam. Aaron Fox Confirms that Jones will move to Europe. After playing 199 games for the Steelers, Sam Jones will leave the club this summer as he embarks on a move to Europe.
