A good while ago I was approached by Alan Male (Head of Illustration; Senior Lecturer – Falmouth University) and he asked me if I would like to feature in the 3rd edition of his book, Illustration: A Theoretical and Contextual Perspective. I have a shelf at home that is full of my old sketchbooks and occasionally I flick through them to recall and relive my past. I say this as it occurred to me that my sketchbooks are the nearest thing I have to a diary. I can often forget my past, however when I browse my old drawings and paintings the memories revive themselves and much of the detail comes back to me.  My sketchbooks are also part of my work because I use them to develop my ideas, they are my work and my life too.
