Why is hydration so important? Around 60 – 70% of the human body is composed of water. Breaking that figure down further… approximately 95% of the brain, 90% of the lungs, 83% of the blood, 76% of the muscles and 22% of the bones are composed of water! It goes without saying that many essential bodily functions are dependent upon water. These facts are often forgotten, or overlooked day to day, which makes people more susceptible to chronic dehydration. Water is more than just a zero calorie, free (to most people) fluid that is an option to sip on throughout the day. Consider the followin ..read more

CrossFit Leyland is no stranger to newborns amongst our community, with many of our female members continuing to enjoy Crossfit throughout pregnancy and returning soon after giving birth. Our coaches have become more adept over the years at scaling workouts for female members at different stages of pregnancy. CFL co-owner and coach, Gina Turner, actually gave birth herself just five weeks ago and has made it look like a breeze. Gina continued her daily training right up until giving birth (her waters actually broke just following a workout!) and credits the smoothness of her pregnancy to mai ..read more

Today marks the 60th birthday of the late, great Mike Redshaw, CFL legend and someone that will be sorely missed and remembered by many. It still seems surreal that Mike passed so suddenly and without warning, something that many of us who knew him well have really struggled to come to terms with. Mike passed on 5th May 2020 aged just 59 years old and left behind his loving wife Lisa and three sons; Alexander, Henry and Charles. Anyone who knew Mike, or perhaps trained alongside him from time to time in the gym, will know that he was the epitome of class. Just a true gentleman in every sense ..read more
