The gorgeous Amina joined the LMP team over 2 years ago and we are so lucky to have her! With a few new classes going live on the platform this month, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do a little Q&A together. What inspired you to train as a barre teacher?  I’ve always loved moving my body, I started off as a dancer but after not getting into dance school I quickly moved into the fitness space. I always thought I was going to pursue a career in Dance so was at a bit of a loss, this is when I discovered Barre, became obsessed and have never looked back Check out Amina’s Class ..read more

Lottie Murphy Journal
by Lottie Murphy
2M ago
By short read, I mean a book under 250 pages, and this is the length of book I love to pick up when I need to get back into a reading groove. It's perfect to slip into your tote bag to read in the park or at the beach this summer, allowing you to gobble these up in one sitting or over a sunny weekend. You’ll get the satisfaction of finishing a book, switch off from the world around you, and be ready for more adventures in the pages of another book. 1) Splinters: A Memoir by Leslie Jamison - 232 pages A memoir on motherhood, divorce and work from a honest voice. 2) Swimming Home by Deborah Lev ..read more

One of our biggest passions at LMP (alongside Pilates) is pasta. Having tried plenty of plates between us, we’ve curated our favourite pasta places for you to try! Whether you have been following my journey with LMP for a while or have recently joined our community, I wanted to introduce myself and give us a chance to catch up off the mat! What drew you to become a pilates teacher? I discovered Pilates while training at ballet school when I was 16. My time on my mat doing Pilates was such a peaceful and calm time compared to the rest of my training. Pilates not only kept my body injury free, supple and strong but it encouraged my mind to be more still. I trained to become a Pilates teacher when I was 20 and never looked back. When I started teaching, it ..read more

1 Year of Motherhood: a reflection
Lottie Murphy Journal
by Lottie Murphy

Trigger warning/ disclaimer: this post is written from my point of view of labour, birth and my first year of motherhood. It describes a not so positive birth. I am not an expert. This is simply an honest account of my personal experience. “She was a mother. This identity shuddered through her, welcome like water to a dry riverbed. It felt so elemental and true that Julia must have unknowingly been a mother all along, simply waiting to be joined by her child.” “She realised, amazed: I love myself. That had somehow never been true before.” The above two quotes are from a few pages in the book H ..read more

What Happened To My Brain In 2019
Lottie Murphy Journal

(This is a journal post and newsletter from 2019 that I deleted but felt it needed to live here) At the start of this year I suffered severely with anxiety, depression and intrusive thoughts. As I recovered I questioned whether to talk about my mental health experience openly, would it bring it all back or make things worse? I spoke to my therapist and psychiatrist about this and they said Lottie if you’ve suffered you’re in a much better place to help others, to help others feel less alone. My experience has opened that door for me. I don’t know all the answers but I will share with you a lit ..read more
