Loving exercise is in your blood
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten

You are a product of your environment – and your ancestors’ environment. Most animals like to laze around and conserve their energy when they get the chance. But when they need to move – to find food, to establish new territory, to fight off rivals, to migrate – they move with enthusiasm. Picture a dog going for a walk with their owner. To a human, it’s a simple walk and the chance to get some fresh air. For the ancient animal brain lurking in that adorable dog, though? They’re a wolf – patrolling and exploring with their pack. They love it because that’s what dogs do. It’s in their nature. Af ..read more

Get fitter by sitting still
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten

It’s easy to get fired up over a new workout routine. You think – this is it. This time you’re serious. You’ll stick to it, not matter what. But… If you have to force yourself to do it, eventually you’ll stop. You’ll ‘take a break’ for a day or two, then completely lose the habit. Then you lose all your progress and have to start over. But what if you could change that pattern, right now? What if you could learn to genuinely enjoy working out? Then taking a short break is no big deal. You’ll get back into it because you want to, rather than letting that derail your progress. Sound too good to ..read more

An unfit nerd’s guide to exercise
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten

Why should you listen to me when it comes to exercise? I’m not the fittest guy out there. I mean, I’m only okay. Make me run and I’ll run, ask me to do Hindu squats and I’ll do them. But I don’t look the part of the sort of guy who’d normally write a book on exercise. I don’t turn heads when I walk around shirtless – not towards me, at least. So why should you listen to me? Because I’m not claiming to be good at exercise – or to make you good at it, either. There are a thousand books on that topic out there already. But let me ask you this: What good is a thousand books on how to exercise… if ..read more

The unnecessary Way
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten
by William T Batten

In my eBook – Motion Mind – I cover three hypnotic ways to learn to love exercise. (It’s right there in the subtitle.) It’s an extremely lean book – you can read this in one sitting. Doing the drills will take longer, but reading about them is fast. Even so… it’s a little redundant. See, you don’t even need the Third Way. Not really. The first two will do the trick for almost all of you. Still… It’s a book about using hypnosis to enjoy working out… and the Third Way is the most hypnotic approach of all. This is where you bring out the big guns. Any internal resistance you have will falter in t ..read more

Rules in hypnosis are like rules in English
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten

Spelling in English can be tricky. I’m sure you’ve heard the handy rhyme to help you remember this rule: I before E Except after C, Unless the sound’s “ay” Like “neighbour” or “sleigh”, Exceptions to these Include “science” and “seize”. Yikes. That’s not so much a rule as it’s… nothing. It’s nothing. Similarly, consider this process on how to hypnotise someone: Get their attention Put them in a trance Create some useful, long-lasting change Bring them out of trance Test and/or reinforce the change If you’re new to hypnosis, it pays to follow this process. If you have some experience with hyp ..read more

Take responsibility for your own programming
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten

You might be surprised by how flexible – and programmable – your own preferences are. You can, for example, learn to love exercise. Even if you dislike it now. Even if you hate it. You can try all sorts of behavioural tricks. Things like rewarding yourself after a workout, doing something to psyche you up or having an accountability buddy. All those, and more, can be useful. You know best how you operate. Maybe penalising yourself with a donation to a cause you hate will work for you. Or maybe it’ll make you dig your heels in. I leave it to you to figure all that out. But if that all seems mor ..read more

Pure nonsense, but based on data
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten

Consider this short tale of woe. Scientist: “Driving isn’t without risks. In Australia, thousands of people die in traffic fatalities each year. Many more are injured. What makes it worse is that your reckless driving doesn’t just put you at risk – it compromises the safety of everyone else, too.” Politician: “Therefore, we must ban all private car ownership. For your safety, we’re closing the roads!” Citizen: “Uh… isn’t that plan… you know, ridiculous?” Politician: “Oh, look who thinks they’re smarter than the scientists.” Policies aren’t based on science. Sometimes they’re based on data – bu ..read more

Is this even hypnosis?
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten

It’s easy for many people to go from feeling demoralised to feeling determined. You may have to dig deep, grit your teeth and fire up, but you can do it. This can be useful. Heck, it’s how a lot of good comes into this world. Someone hits rock bottom, mutters ‘no more’ and turns their life around. It’s also exhausting and risky. Measuring yourself against others is a losing game. When they improve, you could bemoan how they’re pulling ahead of you even further. Or you could celebrate that – which is a much happier and wiser thing to do. Neither of those sounds like hypnosis to you, I’m sure. M ..read more

Master any field in 4 simple steps
Guided Thought | Hypnosis & Guided Meditations by William T Batten
by William T Batten

I’m not mucking around here. If you want to learn the basics of any craft, you can find tutorials on YouTube. If you want all the satisfaction, glory and success that mastery brings, though? That’s harder to find. Books, courses, even a mentor can only get you so far. The best course on how to paint won’t make you a master. It takes something else – something ineffable, that no simple book can convey. Either that or it’s a simple four step process. How could that be, though? If it were that simple, wouldn’t everyone do it? Nah, because the usual filters apply. It takes time and effort to maste ..read more
