I hoped to get some photos of the ewes wintering at Bannon's Land, so I took myself down with the camera one afternoon before Christmas. This mound of soil has been at the top of this field for many years and has become part of the landscape, but for some reason I have struggled to get decent photos of sheep standing on top of it... until this day! I was super pleased to get this photo, and I ..read more

Spot has been lagging behind the other pet lambs - he was born big but hasn't got as big as I thought he would. He was also a bit on the thin side. I made the decision to bring him indoors for a while for some extra feeding. By indoors, I meant a shed, rather than my house! He was unsure about going down the steps, so he just stood there - perfect selfie opportunity. In the run-up to ..read more

Over the Christmas week, the pets received two visits from me. There was a special visitor for Christmas Day too. I've condensed both visits into one post for speed. Nora, Patricia and Petal on the hill. As they age, Patricia and Petal are starting to look more and more alike. Frida coming over. Primrose and Astrid (and Vera). Olive. Titch. Dad ..read more

I was due to meet up with a friend for dinner, but she had to cancel, which left me with a free evening. Daylight was fading fast (not that there was much of it to begin with), so I collected my camera and waterproof trousers and went to visit the ewes at Ballyhafry instead. I took some photos of the sheep by the feeder. Even though I was keeping my distance and using a zoom ..read more

Poor Fly started losing a lot of weight and having runny poos all the time. Off to the vet we went. She was checked over, had bloods taken, had an ultrasound, and there was something odd about her womb. An infection was suspected, so we were sent home with antibiotics over the weekend so we could get her checked again on Monday. Her mood improved over the weekend, and so on Monday she was ..read more

It was a frosty breakfast for the lambs. We still have lots to sell, hopefully we'll be getting that sorted in the new year. In the meantime, that means we have to keep up with breakfast. The boys get theirs first. Poppy helps... sort of. Then it was the girls' turn. They have a lovely view with their breakfast. Susan was with us too. Trying to get that team photo ..read more

Blue Belle moved to her winter pasture about a month ago. I feel a bit sorry for her down here, at the bottom of a field. Unlike the garden where she spends her summer, she can't watch cars or tractors coming and going in the yard. But it is a great place for her in terms of winter grass so here she is. The dogs and I took her out for a walk one Sunday afternoon. She was happy to see us ..read more

Poppy loves helping to feed the indoor lambs - lately she has picked up a new habit of putting her paws over this door. It was so cute, I just had to get her to do it for a photo! The lambs are fed here - they think Poppy has something to eat for them. No luck this time, kids. It was a lovely winter's day, so out we went for more photos. The snow on the mountains is always ..read more

Back in November, I took these photos of Poppy. The most dramatically autumnal trees on the farm are located at the bottom of the pets' field. The snood was for extra cosiness. My favourite photo from the mini photoshoot. Leafy bottom. Walking back up the hill, the pets were grazing peacefully. Here's Titch. Tilly and Fern. Primrose. And ..read more

Sometimes I visit the pet sheep, and they're in a very playful mood, running up to me and jumping up and generally being menaces. On these occasions, I rarely get the opportunity to take photos I like - I'm too busy dodging those nibbles. However, sometimes I visit the pets and everyone is calm and happy to stand around and pose for me. I always look forward to those times. This was definitely ..read more
