Thank you to Fiona and Nick for sharing their Calm Birth Experience with us! This lovely couple attended a one to one session with Jenie Scholes from Empowered Bumps who is based in Southport, UK for the birth of their third child. This was my third baby and my second baby using hypnobirthing. Since having my little boy 18 months ago I had carried on researching birth and my rights and choices particularly about induction. Both my previous babies were born 16 days overdue both via induction. I had tried to hold out with my second baby and did decline induction once but the pressure I felt by ..read more

Thank you to Zoe and Simon for sharing their Calm Birth Experience with us! This lovely couple attended an in person TCBS course with Jenie Scholes from Empowered Bumps who is based in Southport, UK. “In September 2018 my husband and I found ourselves gazing at a positive pregnancy test with a combination of joy and fear. We were finally going to meet our amazing rainbow baby in just 9 months time. With memories of our previous losses, we knew it was important to go into this birth prepared and informed. After researching various options, we decided to sign up to a TCBS hypnobirthing course ..read more

This week’s story comes from a lovely couple who did a course with TCBS Instructor Jenie Scholes in Southport, UK. I reached out to Jenie when I found out I was pregnant with baby no.2 and set my heart on a natural birth after having to have a caesarean with my little boy due to him being extended breech. I chose to sign up to the pregnancy package so I could continue with yoga and equip myself with the knowledge I had discarded from last time after the birthing decision was taken out of my hands. From my first class with Jenie I felt more confident in my decision to decline a caesarean, des ..read more

What was your birth experience like?

What was your birth experience like? Did you feel as in control as you could? Did this birth feel like an awakening to you? A transformation? Did you catch a glimpse of the real you- the powerful, strong, determined you and…did you LOVE her? The birth you had might not have been “perfect” (and it probably didn’t go to plan) but it didn’t matter, you had a toolbox brimming with techniques to support you and your mindset was bang on. You KNOW that this didn’t just happen by accident, you put the prep in. You don’t just happen to have a high pain threshold; you knew how your body worked and how t ..read more

For the birth of my second child (My daughter Bowie) I decided to give Hypnobirthing a go. With my first birth I didn’t know a lot but think I am one of the lucky few who actually had a relatively positive birth even though I knew nothing. However when I found my self pregnant again I decided although it hadn’t been a bad birth that this one could be a better one. I did Hypnobirthing with Annalie from Birth Harmony. It was amazing and at the end of my course I had changed my mind and wanted a home birth (never thought I’d ever do that!) The morning I went into labour I woke up around 6 feeling ..read more

***Trigger Warning*** One winter’s day- literally the day I was due back to work after seeing in January 2012, I was driving (to work) when I felt my whole world cave in. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk, I could barely drive. I just sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. I pulled over and tried to compose myself but I couldn’t. I took a deep breath and headed home to an empty house. What was happening? Was I dying? Why couldn’t I stop making that awful noise which made me sound like I was in terrible pain.  I was in pain, but it wasn’t the physical kind. I couldn’t work out what was going on. I got ..read more

Thanks to Sarah & David from Skipton, Yorkshire in the UK for sharing their story with us! This lovely couple did a TCBS Hypnobirthing course with instructor Jessica Shipley from The Calm Mama Co  “We were lucky enough to undertake a private hypnobirthing course with Jess, which was fantastic as it meant that the content was directed to our particular circumstances. It helped us prepare for the range of different possibilities that we had been told we may face due to complications in our pregnancy including induction and caesarean delivery as well as understanding better the process of l ..read more

“I woke up around 11:30pm with light surges, so I went to the bathroom and then headed straight back to bed before my excitement could keep me awake. At 1:30am I awoke again and the surges had gotten stronger, another trip to the bathroom revealed I had a bloody show. This was the moment I knew she was coming! I laid back in bed and wrapped my husbands arm around me and spent the next two hours smiling and breathing through increasing surges while timing them. I passed right over the 5-1-1 rule my birth centre had laid out for us and was having surges every 3-4 minutes, but only for around 45 ..read more

A few weeks ago I received an email from a lovely lady who had given birth back in 2017- it is NEVER too late to send your story into us! Thank you Lizzie for sharing your wonderful story! – “It’s has taken me a long while to write this all down and now I’m 32 weeks pregnant with our second baby girl so I wanted to share my positive birth story with the CBS community! When I found out I was pregnant with our first baby, I cried with part happiness/ part fear.  Even though we had been trying, and I was so happy to be pregnant, the thought suddenly dawned on me that I now had to give birth… to ..read more
