Instagram is removing like counts and video views in a new trial

This week, Instagram announced that is removing like and video view counts on posts in numerous countries as part of a new trial. At the moment, Instagram users see a running total of people who have liked a post. In the trial, users will see a user name “and others” below posts. This new test is rolling out in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy, Japan and Brazil, after a similar trial ran in Canada earlier this year. Why you need to be using vertical video

A few years ago it would have been considered a faux pas to post a vertical video to social media. Some of it would have been cut off or distorted and people would’ve probably moaned about it. It was an immediate red flag signalling that you perhaps didn’t know what you were doing. This was natural, given that we’ve always consumed video in this way; cinema, televisions, computer screens.
