An essential ingredient in the original Pornstar Martini, Passoã is also perfect for twisting the classics.
As one of the world’s best-known and most-loved cocktails, the Pornstar Martini is a modern cocktail icon. And when the late, great Douglas Ankrah created it back in 2002, at its heart was the distinctive tropical sweetness and subtle tanginess of Passoã passion fruit liqueur. Over 20 years later if you order the Pornstar Martini today in any great bar you’ll still see the bartender reaching for the distinctive black Passoã bottle.

In a week that we’ve celebrated International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day here in the UK, here’s another slice of female fabulousness. The wonderful Kat Stanley-Whyte is joining Veronica Di Pietrantonio at Viajante87.
As far as we’re concerned, it’s a match made in heaven. With Kat’s love for and winning ways with agave spirits and the gorgeous Latin American flavour going down at Viajante87, cocktail lovers are in for a real treat when the two join forces. And she can’t bloody wait.
“It’s been an honour to be a part of the iconic Savoy bar team but there was definitely a part of me that miss ..read more

Other than Manchester, London and Birmingham* in the UK, do you want to know where all the cool kids are heading in the next few months? Two words, one city: New York.
The opening of Shingo Gokan and Steve Schneider’s Sip & Guzzle is a big reason, the other is the eight-week Schmuck. event at Back Bar. Actually, skip that. More than an event, it’s a happening. It’s Moe Aljaff’s and Juliette Laroui’s opportunity to preview what’s in store at their first, highly-anticipated, permanent New York bar, opening later this year.
“We’re setting this up to tease what’s to come,” says Moe, a f ..read more

It’s the last episode of season six and have we got a great interview for you! We head over to New York to catch up with one of our absolute favourite bartenders/owners/humans, the one, the only Steve Schneider, talking about his latest venture, Sip & Guzzle.
But before we hear from Steve, we’re doing the usual: opening up bottles, dipping into a book and heading off to a cocktail bar to sample its goodies. The products in question are Linie Aquavit, a caraway-based spirit which dates back to 1805, then we put Ben Branson’s Seasn Cocktail Bitters to the test, seeing what characteristics th ..read more

In three weeks time – on the 13th February to be precise, Bar Director Pietro Collina and Brand Manager Veronica Di Pietrantonio will launch the first of their exciting takeover series. But don’t go thinking that these are going to be anything like your average bar takeovers. Hell no! The team are going all out, bringin ..read more

While we can never guarantee exactly what will be on the cards when judging a PATRÓN Perfectionists national final, we always know our palates will be surprised and delighted; our minds well and truly blown by the inventive serves and the stories behind them.
This year the anticipation was dialled up even more, purely because of the brief. How would the 10 finalists reimagine the pretty darned perfect PATRÓN Paloma recipe simply by dreaming up their own cordial? Oh, and linking the inspiration behind their creation to their favourite city? A tough one granted, but once again, the Perfect ..read more

It’s our first episode of 2024, so we’re giving a respectful nod to those going dry as well as those who are resolving to continue drinking alcohol – only better.
Our two product reviews are a case in point: First we go all regal and head over to Highclerc Castle where they make a gin based around 10 botanicals found in the castle’s Victorian orangery and monk’s garden, then we pop the cork and bust out a fabulous alternative to Champagne and sparkling wine – REAL Peony Blush fermented tea.
