Taper is that weird time after your last long run and race day.
This doesn’t mean that you completely stop your training program after your last long training day. Instead, we back off the intensity, while keeping the same amount of training days.
It’s normal to feel sluggish, hazy, and tired.
You also may feel strong and energetic.
However you feel, be kind to yourself.
The point of taper is to refresh your body, and to get it ready for race day.
It’s easy to push your body in this phase because you start to feel good. Go easy on yourself. Don’t do anything stupid, and then wreck yourself bef ..read more

With Australia being is the skin cancer capital of the world, Solbari, has created a line of products to suit the lifestyle of many Australia. One being me.
Every Aussie knows to “Slip, Slop, Slap”. Which I do every summer when I head out for any outdoor adventure.
Three summers ago, I moved from being an early morning runner to an afternoon runner, all because of my job.
This meant that I had no choice but to run in the afternoon in the heat of the day.
Yes, I could run after dinner, once the sunsets, but I find it takes me a while to wind down, and then I have trouble sleeping.

By A. Meredith Walters
Ebook: 321 pages
Mi Rating: ★★★★ (4)
One day soon tells is a dual timeline book. Telling the lives of Imogen (Imi) and Yoss (named after the main character of Joseph Hellers book Catch 22).
It begins in the present day, where Imogen is given a new case at the hospital. A homeless no-name man was brought it. Little does she realise that her world is going to be turned upside down, and she will be thrust back in time to 15 years earlier when she first meets him (Yoss).
Walters captures what life is like being homeless, when you don’t have anywhere to go or anyone to turn ..read more

In the last few years, my one-word intention has come with ease.
Whether it’s been COVID, or just the stress of the last few months (packing, moving demolishing the house), finding a word for 2022 has been a struggle.
In the last few years I have had the following:
Build (2018, a bit ironic now in retrospective)
Smash (2019)
Celebrate (2020)
Adventure (2021)
You’d think that doing a one-word intention since 2015, would be easy.
Words I had considered in the past, just weren’t fitting.
It wasn’t until I was having a shower after a run that it hit me.

Every year I set myself a reading challenge.
In 2021 I read a total of 70 books for the year. The most I have ever read in a year, ever.
Now if you are thinking how did I do this. Well, I always had a book and audiobook on the go. I also didn’t watch a lot of TV.
The other thing I did in 2021 that I really enjoyed was creating a list of book themes for the year.
This really got out of my comfort zone, and because of it, I read some books I normally would not have chosen but still thoroughly enjoyed.
For 2022, I have decided on three mini-challenges.
Challenge 1
Read 22 books from my Kobo libra ..read more

My one-word theme for 2021 was Adventure.
Was I asking too much?
With two years of COVID, lockdowns, restrictions, some might say that you can’t go on adventures if you can’t go anywhere.
If COVID has taught us anything, it’s to be kind, be resourceful, and live life to the beat of your own drum.
While I couldn’t do many of the things I would have liked to have done, like travel, see family enter events, I still had a year of adventure.
My first big adventure was to run my first road (unofficial) marathon.
Inspired by the Choir Boys song Run to Paradise, I did just that and ran to Paradise. A ..read more

In 2020, my reading objective was to read as many books as possible on my TBR (to be read pile). This year (2021) it was to diversify my reading.
This is why I created a Reading Challenge, to help me get out of my comfort zone.
Twenty Twenty One was also the year that I read the most EVER! With a whopping (at the time this was written) 71 books (because 5 were big fat DNF’s).
Reading List of 2021
In chronological order
Hitched Vol 1 by Kendall Ryan
Hitched Vol 2 by Kendall Ryan
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
Hitched Vol 3 by Kendall Ryan
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
