Deeper CHIRP+ Review We take a detailed look at the new Deeper CHIRP+ and compare it to its predecessor, the Pro+ Following on from our recent review of the Pro+ from Deeper, we now turn our attentions to the latest version, the CHIRP+, which was launched in early 2019. Inevitably, most anglers want to know what exactly the main differences are between these two castable echo sounders from the Lithuanian company. By Martin Gleeson 04/05/2019 What a weekend! With an outstanding attendance of 437 people at this weekends Gold Coast Tilapia Busters Competition it was one of the most successful days in the events history. The event is aimed at helping reduce the biomass of the invasive fish species Tilapia from local Gold Coast Waterways. This year the event was hosted late in the season when Tilapia start to slow down on the bite. Despite this a total of 450 kilograms of this evasive species were caught and culled. Happy Australia Day everyone! The My Catch Australia Team trekked it up to the Bli Bli Barra Park on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday. We arrived there at 9.30am and was let in a little early by the very helpful staff onsite. The staff onsite were quick to brief us on the best tactics to use to catch their famous Barramundi. As we were soon to find out these fish are not your ordinary Barra and the day was a lot more challenging than originally thought. The team started off by casting out a variety of hard and soft plastic lures. We had a few bumps and hits but strangely enough nothing seemed t ..read more

Sunday 27th December On Sunday 27th December, Marty and Paul met up with Dale Quant from Rodzilla Adventure Fishing Tackle as well as a few mates and hit the newly opened section of the North Pine Dam. (A SIPS Permit is required to fish this dam and can be obtained here). This was our first time hitting this dam. Where and When Friday Night was a great night of fishing. Paul and I headed down to Cabbage Tree Lake and caught up with Dale and Lozza from Rodzilla Adventure Fishing Tackle. Since receiving our Deeper Sonar Pro+ units Paul and I have used them on every fishing trip. The versatility of these units is amazing. whether fishing from a boat or kayak or from land (as in this case) the units are easy to use and help you to find the fish. We both got down to the lake at 7.00pm. Straight away we wet our lines. Paul and I both rigged up bait and casted them out. While waiting for a bite we casted o ..read more

My Catch Australia
by Marty Gleeson

Written by Marty Gleeson 6/02/2018 Introduction Targeting the various species of bream on lures is fast becoming the most popular forms of fishing in Australia. Their abundance in our local canal and river systems ensures that everyone right around the coastline of Australia has access to their natural and artificial habitats at any time throughout the year. It can be daunting when first targeting this species, especially when it comes to selecting from the plethora of lures, rods and reels available. In my case it wasn’t expensive lures or rods and reels that got me onto my first bream a ..read more
