Sometimes you want to write without having anything specific to write about. That’s what this is. But, since I’m here with nothing else to talk about—there are less than 20 days until I start my third decade, and I’m honestly pretty excited about the next ten years and what they hold. Prayin’ for financial stability, many more slow days spent reading or lounging in my backyard, enjoying dog snuggles, and one day (post coronavirus) traveling again. 2020 has been a complete trip of the mind for our country. But meanwhile Kabir and I have been hitting these normal adult milestones in what feels ..read more

It’s been half a year since I’ve posted on moddie blog and I realized today that I really freakin’ miss having some sort of an outlet. I don’t have much spare time as I’m now a full-time student, but I’d like to spend some of it keepin’ a little log here in the moddie-verse, so here I am back again! Since I’ve last updated, I’ve become a full-stack web developer! I decided 2019 was going to be the year of new things—boy, did I not realize how MANY new things you can fit into a year. I started off slow with pottery classes and learning guitar… and then dove head first into a coding bootcamp tha ..read more

Embracing Change During a Move

Lord knows I am bad at change, even though I love the idea of it. I get excited by all of the newness and then after I get settled the anxiety hits. It’s a very confusing feeling being anxious after you went through all of the moving parts that come with taking all of your belongings, your dog, and yourself to a new home. But that’s how it works for me. I thought I’d write out some tips in case you’re also going through a big life change like a move, or if you have any good tips for ME! Because sometimes you need different things for different situations, right? I deal with anxiety and had dep ..read more

I completed my 2018 Goodreads reading challenge this year! Okay, I may have finished my 40th book on January 3rd, but I’m still counting it as 2018. I must be feeling pretty good about myself because I raised the ante this year to 45 books in 2019. I think I’ve hit my stride, so we’ll see how this year unfolds. I wanted to highlight some of my favorites from this year in case you guys need any reading recommendations. So without further adieu, here we go… Hum if You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais — Started the year off with such a great book. This novel follows two points of view ..read more

TO 2019

And just like that 2018 is over. It seems like this year went by especially quick, to the point where I’m not really sure what I accomplished aside from moving to another state! So I thought I’d pop back on the blog for some good ol’ introspection. It’s that time of year, so why not? So here it goes. What did I do in 2018 that really mattered to me? Made genuine friendships in LA Traveled internationally (Ireland) and domestically (New York, Santa Barbara twice, lots of Malibu, tons of trips back to Houston) Took a long rest from exercising after spraining my ankle to heal and learn some bala ..read more

Hi friends, it’s been another minute since I’ve blogged. To be honest I’ve been trying to accomplish a lot of things and blogging hasn’t been my top priority. Maybe one day we’ll get back there. Until then, I wanted to chat about autumn. I got this downloadable PDF from Elsie (A Beautiful Mess) which I think is so cute. We have it on our fridge, but I’m also bullet journalling lists like crazy because it’s keeping me accountable and productive. Are you a list taker? The feeling of checking off items on your list is so satisfying, but mostly I like to brain dump everything out into a list so ..read more

It has been a hot minute since I’ve update the blogosphere with my recent reads. Mostly because I haven’t been feeling the blogging vibe lately, but I’m hoping to jump back in ASAP. I have however been keeping track of my books and I’m on track to still do 40 books in 2018 (MAYBE more?) so woohoooo! I’m not going to tell you about all 14 books I read from May until now, but I did want to highlight some of my favorites.  The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie I think this is my favorite book I’ve read in the past few months and it’s a book of short stories. I haven’t read s ..read more

On Not Creating

I think back to the 2012-2013 era of me who was just finishing college and had a ton of spare time between morning classes and two hours of nannying (where I mostly read) a day. I think about her a lot because that girl didn’t really have anything together life-wise aside from the fact that she was in school and had a sweet part-time gig. She didn’t know where she was going or if she’d be dating her boyfriend much longer or if she’d ever make new friends. But the one thing she did have down was her productivity when it came to original content creation. The marketing manager just came out in m ..read more

Back in July, my best friend came to visit me in LA for a week and the one thing she really wanted to do (besides eat at Lemonade) was to visit the Getty Villa. Since Kabir and I have been to the Getty, but hadn’t yet made the trek towards Malibu to see the Villa we decided to make this a priority and we’re glad we did. The views from the villa are stunning, and it felt like we were instantly transported to the mediterranean.  Not sure what the Getty Villa actually is? Well, here’s some quick background info for ya if you’re thinking about going while visiting LA: The Getty Villa is a r ..read more
