I've been trying to finish my CDA before I have to move out of state with my partner for his job, I'm done with everything but the exam and observation, but I just learned I have to wait until next week to apply for scholarship for the exam, and I can't schedule the exam until I'm approved for scholarship does anyone who has been through this know what the timeline looks like? How long after applying for scholarship were you approved, and then when can you schedule your after that (a couple days, a couple weeks....?) I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to get it done in time or if I'll ..read more

Something light for everyone. I started my job as a pre-k teacher to Autistic children last August. My room came very bare and I had little time to decorate before school started. I'll have time this summer to be able to do that. I have no idea where to get decor though. I'd love a all comes on one type deal that I don't have to download and print myself. Our room is the giraffes room if that helps. Any places to look for classroom decor woule be a big help. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/gnarly_baby [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I am curious to see what everyone else likes or dislikes. The saying 'Grass is always greener on the other side,' does not always hold true so I am curious! Thank you if you decide to comment! submitted by /u/boobalah1010 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Anyone ever deal with drama at their center? The people I work with are nasty and it’s basically high school. Anyone have the issue of their own managers talking about you / their problems to other co workers? I think I made a mistake of getting too close to some of my co workers lol! I’ve been looking for new job opportunities because the pay sucks and I don’t have the patience to deal with the cattiness anymore. submitted by /u/Aggressive-Ring4813 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Screen time between transition periods?

Hi all! Do your centers allow screen time? For my center, we typically put on the Simple Songs compilation videos for our transition periods (diapers and setting up lunches) since there is only two of us with 14 toddlers (2-2.5). It is usually 10-15 minutes after being outside. Just curious about thoughts about screen time and if other centers do this as well to help with transition periods. The iPad is only ever on when one teacher is doing diapers and the other teacher is setting up lunches. submitted by /u/These-Shoulder253 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

New first time daycare mom here. I got sent an adorable video of my son (12 months) being kissed on the nose by two other toddlers in his daycare class today. It was precious and I’m so glad the other babies love him buuut…. Germs ? Should I say something? Is this appropriate behaviour to encourage? I would feel terrible saying anything negative about such a cute moment but again. Germs. ? submitted by /u/Mission_Mud479 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Admin taking my teacher appreciation gift might just be my final straw to quit and never look back

This job at its best still takes a lot out of us and it’s much much worse when you have a crappy admin. I work for a local chain that has several centers around town and upper admin always blames directors when teachers are frustrated with how shitty everything is run. My director quit with no notice in February after my coteacher quit with no notice in January. (In short, it’s fucked) We have administrators here as “acting director” but all they do is roll their eyes at us and watch cameras to yell at us over the tiniest infractions while leaving us out of ratio. They are literally just mean ..read more

Child Cries All Day, Every Day

For literally 8 months. The only time he stops is when he’s asleep. He literally cries between bites of food. It’s not because he gets held all the time, because he’s crying when we hold him too. He cries sitting. He cries on his belly. He cries on his back. He cries around other babies. He cries when he’s left alone. His parents have taken him to the doctor and say nothing is wrong with him. I’m really just at my wits end and don’t know what to do anymore. submitted by /u/That-Turnover-9624 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Mom only wants to breastfeed baby

I have a new baby who just started in my class last week and her mom also just started working at my center. Mom only wants to breastfeed the baby. She won’t pump and bring bottles. But of course mom also needs to do her job so she can’t just come feed the baby whenever she’s hungry, she can only come when she gets a break. So this baby is screaming at the top of her lungs because she’s hungry every day and there’s nothing I can do about it because I don’t have any milk for her and mom can’t come for another 20 minutes or an hour or however long it takes. Also, every time mom has to leave the ..read more
