When Baseball Meets Bumble Part 2

BumbleBack to the booth in the sports bar where Game 6 of the ALCS is on and the Yankees are now down 3-2 in the mid-innings of the game.  Full disclosure I get fairly emotional during sporting events that I am very invested in and this game was one of them.  I tend to have to pace,  cover my eyes or clench my hands together in a sort of fisted praying motion.  I can get intense as it matters more to me than the players on the field. Throughout the 9 innings, there were many allusions to sex coming from him.  During commercial breaks, I was told how good he was how many women he’d had and how ..read more

When Baseball Meets Bumble, Part 1
Baseball by Becky

This particular event occurred last October during the baseball playoffs and I have debated whether or not to share it here on my blog as I always want to be respectful and kind. I haven’t embellished or stretched the truth in any way, this all happened over span of 4 hours.  Bumble is another world when it comes to connecting with what you hope are actual human beings of the opposite sex. For those of you that don’t know what Bumble is – it’s a dating app. A particular male individual had asked me to meet on a Saturday evening. It was during the baseball playoffs so I checked to see what gam ..read more

How Delta Airlines Got Me To Yankee Stadium

Recently I traveled to Morocco.  We purchased airline tickets with Delta airlines about eight months in advance assuming there a slight change or two to my flight times. I didn’t expect six changes to my reservation, many lengthy phone calls to Delta along with an email expressing my frustrations.  We never changed my flights but they sure did booking and re-booking our reservations each time and sometimes finding out we had no flight at all.  One of their changes turned out to be an unexpected surprise.  Delta wanted us to fly out a day later than planned so we’d have a night and full day in ..read more

Welcome to the 2019 baseball season. Here we are back to playing baseball once again and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had a long day just finally being able to sit down and eat dinner and am a little punchy at the moment. My day started out texting several friends .gifs of their teams or getting the Yankees starting line-up at 7:19am from my boss and my friend predicting 92 wins for his Cubbies this season. Bartolo Colon is MIA I got up an hour early to go through today’s match-ups and starting pitchers and to put the finishing touches on my blog about Bartolo Colon. Sat down at Starbucks to fi ..read more

A Season Finale with More Drama than Melrose Place

I proudly admit watching Melrose Place from start to finish in the 90’s.  It was a nighttime soap opera that aired weekly right after 90210.  The show revolved around the lives of young people that lived in an apartment complex together.  It’s writers never held back, creating the most absurd story lines that were at times laughable but kept me watching.  Melrose Place series finale was one of all time best.  I still remember thinking they had exhausted every single story line by the end of it with the building exploding.  I discovered the writers had a sense of humor uncovering the title of t ..read more

It’s The Unknown That Makes Baseball So Good

Watching the Boston Red Sox play the New York Yankees last night I heard something that clicked with me about the unknown. Tim Kurkjian one of ESPN’s announcers started discussing one of the great things about baseball was not knowing who would win the World Series this year.  It’s September 20th and we’re 10 days away from October and this years playoff and he’s right.  You can see the current standings as of today https://www.mlb.com/standings. Sure the Boston Red Sox have had quite the season winning 103 games but any baseball fans know that anything can happen.  It’s one of the reasons I l ..read more

Fun with Numbers – My Top Twenty
Baseball by Becky

The game of baseball revolves around numbers. Lots and lots of numbers.  Baseball players wear numbers on their uniforms their positions on the field are numbered in the scorers book and your section and seat have a number when you go to the ballpark.  All those numbers are just the tip of the iceberg as we haven’t even touched on baseball statistics. During the season everyday brings new numbers. I’d thought I’d have a little fun with numbers this week.  I find them sticking with me  from a podcast I listened to or from an Instagram post I scrolled across.  They bounce around in my head so I ..read more

It’s already September with just around 20 games left to play in the 2018 MLB regular season. Several teams are now eliminated from the playoffs.  Teams like the Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, and the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles currently sit 55.5 games back in the American League East.  They have the honor of owning the worst record in Major League Baseball at 40 wins and 94 losses with a winning percentage of just .293.  These Orioles could play the spoiler down the stretch beating teams that they shouldn’t so your team can make th ..read more

Expect the Unexpected

I recently traveled to Dallas, Texas to honor Vlad Guerrero for being inducted into Baseball  Hall of Fame. The Texas Rangers decided to pay tribute to Vlad’s induction with a bobble head giveaway, a special  pregame ceremony and a luncheon.  I attended the Hall of Fame Luncheon hoping to see a current player or two along with a few guys that played during Vlad’s time in baseball. Hall of Fame catcher Pudge Rodriguez had been promoted as an attendee. Two Hall of Fame players at the same luncheon on a Friday afternoon in Arlington. What could be better than that?  I didn’t expect that a 97-year ..read more

I catch a non-stop American Airlines flight to Dallas today. I mention non-stop because direct flights are hard to come by out of Spokane, Washington. Why the trip to Dallas? It began with an Instagram post by the Texas Rangers. They were promoting a weekend to celebrate and honor newly inducted Hall of Fame outfielder Vladimir Guerrero. View this post on Instagram On Aug. 3-4, we venerate Vladdy. A post shared by Texas Rangers (@rangers) on Jun 21, 2018 at 11:34am PDT My first thought was this is really odd.  Vladdy only played one season for the Texas ..read more
