“Remember, the best way to support live music is to actually go see live music.”– Larry Jack Sammons
Boy, there have been a bunch of exciting (at least to me) shows announced over the past couple weeks…Lucero, The Chats, All Them Witches, Dawes, Crash Test Dummies, AJJ, and a Joyce Manor show at Lodge of Sorrows that’s fairly short notice…it’s next Saturday. Lots of good stuff going on in the next couple weeks. Here’s what I could find. Come say hey between sets and we’ll try not to talk about how this would have been Savannah Stopover weekend. See you out there. Tom

Hey, everyone, there’s a good bit going on the next couple weeks, pick your poison. I’ll be out a good bit, but am particularly looking forward to Day 1 of Cougar Fest at El Rocko, it should be a very solid night of aggressive music across several sub genres of rock. The Talking Heads tribute band at Congress Street Social is a really solid choice, too. See you out there, Tom

Okay, ladies and gents, we’re coming out of the holidays and getting back in the live music groove around here. I hope everyone is well in the New Year. As for shows, there’s some good stuff in here. I’d say I’m looking forward to Space Prom hosted by Nordista Freeze the most. That dude makes everyone have fun with sheer will power, and then a weird prom theme with special guests on top of that? No brainer fun. Other stuff: Koffin Kats show at El Rocko should be great. The Georgia On My M ..read more

Ho ho holy shit, it’s December somehow! Here’s the next couple of weeks worth of shows to the best of my knowledge.
Personally, I’m kinda stoked to see Evergreen Terrace again. They were amazing at AURA Fest a couple years ago and highly recommended if you like gnarly metal, metalcore specifically if you’re picky about your nasty metal genres. Great live, mosh at your own risk. That Minks/Black Hat show at El Rocko will be great, too. Two of Larry Jack’s favorite psych rock b ..read more

What a turnout at Eastern Wharf for Larry Jack’s List this past Saturday! Great performances, and lots of familiar faces. So cool.
There’s plenty going on in the next couple of weeks, too. Personally, I wouldn’t miss Daikaiju at El Rocko (Yeah, it’s a Monday show, but Google them or watch some Youtube videos, it’s totally worth dragging ass on Tuesday.), Cindy Lee at Lodge of Sorrows is interesting, and that old school rap show at Enmarket Arena looks nuts, but all of these shows are almost cer ..read more

There’s so much going on over the next several weeks, it’s kinda nuts. Tons of worthy shows, but the one that matters most round these parts is Larry Jack’s List on Saturday October 28. Other than that, there’s some big touring acts (Stevie Nicks!), legends (Jonathan Richman!), Halloween cover bands (often fun!), Finkfest (Electric Frankenstein!), 2 nights of Widespread Panic (drugs!), album releases (Neckromance!) and, as always, more local talent than you can shake a stick at. See you out the ..read more

“Remember, the best way to support live music is to actually go see live music.”– Larry Jack Sammons
Okay, guys, it’s been a heck of a couple weeks. I’ve driven all over creation and seen shows in Jacksonville, Charleston, Savannah (obvs!), attended weddings, a celebration of life, and…well, you get it. Hopefully my not posting didn’t make anyone miss the best concert of their life.
Anyway, during literally thousands of miles of driving, I’ve had some time to think about some things. I had initially decided to change the name of the column to something different that still paid respect to Larr ..read more

There is a massive hole in the Savannah music community, one that will never properly be filled. Long-time contributor and our great friend Larry Jack passed away on Sept. 10.
On Oct. 1, per his wishes, the community gathered at Starland Yard to celebrate his life. It was evident from the gathering how many lives he touched with his infectious personality. His family and closest friends eulogized him with warmth between sets of live music. The perfect ceremony for ..read more

Hey, guys. In an attempt to honor Larry Jack, I am going to try to carry on his music schedule posts. I can’t think of a better way to remember Larry than to go to a show and enjoy the music and the amazing music scene that we have in Savannah. I felt his spirit in the room at a couple shows I attended last week … people having the time of their lives, smiles, hugs, weirdness, mosh pits, friends, discovering new bands … Larry lived for this stuff.
There is a ton going on in the next week. See you out there. Help me fill this giant hole in my heart. Tom
