I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! It’s been a fun one over here. Today I had some of my Book Club girlfriends over for a pie brunch. I really want to work on my pie skills so I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to try one out. I made one from The Book on Pie (a rental from the library but I would highly recommend for anyone serious about their pie game). It was a German Chocolate Pie with a coconut and pecan topping that was so yummy. My crust wasn’t perfect but, like I said, I need the practice. I was thinking that maybe next year I should challenge myself to make a pie a ..read more

I hope you all are enjoying your weekends! It’s felt so merry around here lately. The house is all decorated for Christmas, we’re playing our favorite carols and celebrating with family and friends. We went to my brother-in-law’s house tonight for our second annual gingerbread night which has been much anticipated. The kids watched the old Frosty the Snowman and were laughing so hard. Corinna wore her high-up shoes and they both loved the blondies with ice cream for dessert. It was so cold outside which made it even merrier inside! WHAT WE ATE I plan to share the meals I made the previous wee ..read more

Happy December! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! We were greeted with our first snow of the season on December 1st. It was so magical to wake up and see all the white. Augustine and Corinna were outside right after breakfast and probably spent 6 hours outside that day between sledding, making snowballs, and running around. Corinna and I went to see The Nutcracker Ballet this weekend and it was such a special time just the two of us. She had the best time and I’ll always remember how sweet it was sitting with her in my lap the whole time. I surprised her with these glitter shoes ..read more

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! I totally didn’t realize it was Saturday until after dinner when I was like, “wait! I have to work on my blog post tonight!” I’ve always loved the long holiday weekend and we’re soaking up all the extra family time with Matthew who has been off work. He’s been so busy with his new job this year that even one day off is wonderful. WHAT WE ATE I plan to share the meals I made the previous week, with links if possible, as some inspiration for your own menu planning.  MONDAY- Smoked Ham Hock Soup– My cousin was in town so we had this simple soup recipe that was re ..read more

Happy Thanksgiving week!! This is one of our favorite weeks of the year and I am so happy it’s here. We are hosting this year for the first time and it will be so nice to celebrate with our in-town family members. My plan tonight (Saturday) is to finish this blog post and then get my giant grocery list written and organized. I know I’ll feel so much better once that is done. WHAT WE ATE I plan to share the meals I made the previous week, with links if possible, as some inspiration for your own menu planning.  MONDAY- Immunity Soup – one of my friends brought this to a Mom’s Favorite Soup ..read more

Hi! Ok, how are we almost at mid-November?! I feel like we’re already getting in the holiday mood around here. In Idaho, people put up their exterior Christmas lights early because no one wants to be doing that when it’s icy/snowing! The children have been asking Matthew for the past week and today was the day. I love seeing a little glimmer of the lights when I walk by the front door. WHAT WE ATE I plan to share the meals I made the previous week, with links if possible, as some inspiration for your own menu planning.  MONDAY- Sausage, Fennel, and White Bean Soup– We all loved this soup ..read more

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve been enjoying your weekend. November is here and I feel like we’re all looking forward to the holidays. We’re hosting Thanksgiving this year for our family in Idaho so that will be a first for us. Send tips and prayers! This week the weather took a significant nose dive so I’m scrambling a bit to make sure I have proper cold-weather gear for all the kiddos, and myself. I was chatting with a friend this morning and she mentioned looking for a snowsuit for herself so she could be out in the snow with her kids, and I was, “yes, of course!” I want to be out there in the ..read more

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! Today (Saturday) has been one of those long, tiring days. I wasn’t as busy around the house but I think the week just caught up to me. I was reading a story to Augustine while the girls were napping and fell asleep myself! I am not a napper but I also don’t really let myself lie down during the day. Combine lounging on the couch in a sunny room and reading a book, I had no chance! WHAT WE ATE I plan to share the meals I made the previous week, with links if possible, as some inspiration for your own menu planning.  MONDAY- Creamy but Cream-less T ..read more

Happy weekend everyone! I’ve had a busy weekend of meal prep over here. Of course, I decided to be busy in the kitchen when Matthew is off camping, but thankfully he came back a little early (his choice not mine) so I will have some extra help today (Sunday). I made granola, bread, pizza dough, sandwich loaves, salad dressing, and cookies for the adults and I still have more to do! I try to do what I can when I can because it does help the week go more smoothly. WHAT WE ATE I plan to share the meals I made the previous week, with links if possible, as some inspiration for your own m ..read more
