Elevated Neutral Spring Outfit

When we talk about neutral outfits, the term usually means one styled in various shades of one color with that color being beige, black, brown, grey, navy, off-white, or white depending on the season or your personal preference. Now that days are feeling longer here in Seattle and we will finally see sunsets past 8:00pm starting today, I am loving lighter toned neutral looks in shades of white, off-white, and beige and have many options already sitting in my closet that can be styled together. Today I am sharing an elevated take on a neutral spring outfit with tailored pieces and a mix of text ..read more

It's that time of year again: cherry blossom season! My favorite things about spring are longer days and the beautiful cherry blossoms, and the best place to see cherry blossoms locally is the University of Washington. UW's iconic Yoshino cherry trees are nearly 90 years old and thousands of people (including me) travel to campus every spring during peak bloom to spend time admiring them. I very much enjoy shooting spring outfits during peak bloom, and you can see several of my previous outfit shoots here, here, and here. Today I am sharing a casual spring look among these cherry blossoms with ..read more

The last two weekends have been decently warm, sunny, and springlike here in Seattle, and I am very much enjoying the ability to stow my wool winter coats in favor of lighter jackets. This spring I am loving all types of cropped jackets such as the one I am sharing with you today: this Cropped Cargo Faux Leather Jacket unfortunately is now sold out, but I linked it here in case more sizes become available. Today's outfit is inspired by a relatively new show called "Death and Other Details" that I just finished watching via Hulu! I really enjoyed the murder mystery storyline, but more impo ..read more

If you follow me on Instagram, you have already seen a peek at my winter Japan and Bali trip. This trip was a pandemic reschedule centered around the destination wedding of two of my longtime dear friends. I was over the moon to be invited to their rescheduled wedding, be able to attend, and plan out a two week Asia trip around it. Our itinerary included time in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Bali. You can read my Tokyo travel log here, my Kyoto Travel Log here, and my What I Packed and Wore in Japan post here. Our Bali itinerary included a full seven days on this island based a ..read more

Spring is only a few weeks away and I am already starting to notice the longer days here in Seattle. I did a recent closet clean-out, donated a number of items, and created room for some new seasonal pieces. If you have been following me for a while, you already know how much I love crisp white tops with jeans any time of the year Today's look continues that theme with a new addition to my closet: this floral embroidered sweater. I followed the size chart, ordered a size XS, and am very happy with the fit. Now I know what you are going to say: florals are groundbreaking for spring, w ..read more

Transitional Style: Oversized Sneakers

The oversize trend really took off in 2020, for good reason, and shows no sign of going away anytime soon. The combination of comfort and style without looking like you are trying too hard has massive appeal, and I appreciate that there are so many options to incorporate oversized pieces into every closet. Back in December I decided to shop for a pair of black sneakers to wear during our end of year Paris trip (you may have seen me wearing them in this IG post), and fell in love with these chic oversized sneakers. I had seen this particular style before in white, but there is somethi ..read more

Wishing you a restful long weekend if you have one for Presidents' Day in the US! I count myself lucky to not be working today, and also to be home this week after a couple of busy weeks of work travel with typical winter flight delays. This weekend I have been catching up on sleep, catching up with friends, and catching up on workouts. In addition, I had a chance to assess recent purchases including this beautiful bustier top. The bustier or corset top trend is back this spring, I always need new seasonal tops to refresh my closet, and I decided I needed to jump on board. I followed the size ..read more

Gong xi fa cai (恭喜发财), xin nian kuai le (新年快乐) to all who celebrate Lunar New Year! Wishing good health, happiness, and good fortune to everyone in the year of the Dragon. Some of you know that I studied Mandarin in college and had the amazing opportunity to work in Shanghai for a year-long project about ten years ago. I created a series of posts on my China adventures that you can see here. It is so fun to look back at those posts--I feel like it was a lifetime ago and I have so many great memories from that time. Today I definitely feel older, not sure about wiser (haha), but I still t ..read more

Transitional Style: Neutral Basics + Faure le Page Tote

Neutral basics are the core of a capsule wardrobe, and the key pieces to your capsule wardrobe may look different than mine depending on where you live. The milder weather we have here in the Pacific Northwest means that late fall, winter, and early spring are all similar (with some exceptions, of course) and my go-to basics are the same. Today I am sharing a casual look made up of several of those neutral basic pieces: a tailored wool coat, a cashmere sweater, skinny jeans, booties, and a roomy carry-all tote. Most of my outfit is made up of existing pieces, with the one exception being ..read more

Winter Style: Plaid Wool Shacket & Skirt Matching Set

Are you a fan of bright colors or neutral tones during the winter season? I love and wear both, but as we are currently in the darkest days of winter I feel like pops of color are a great way to brighten up a dreary day and my mood. This fuchsia plaid wool shacket c/o Sézane and skirt set do just that! You saw me style this shacket earlier this month with a faux leather skirt and over the knee boots in this post, and I liked the print and style of the shacket so much that I purchased the matching skirt. Both are 100% wool in a warm winter-friendly weight and fully lined so as not to be it ..read more
