Life is Beautiful music festival started in 2013 and is located in downtown Las Vegas. The three-day show hosts over 70 musical performances and is now one of the’s worlds largest festivals. Since 2016 my cousin, Hannah has been going to life is beautiful music festival and its her happy place. You can buy tickets in advance and on a payment plan of $50 a month, which is what her and all her friends do. Recently the topic of the hook-up culture has been rolling around my brain. Why do mindless hookup’s feel like the only option for Gen Z intimacy in 2023? Why is hooking up the new standard form of connection? When did taking it slow and having a genuine rapport with someone vanish to using each other to fill our insecurities and anxieties? We could talk about how the internet is re-wiring our brains. But we simply grew up accustomed to having everything we wanted at our fingertips. Making our dopamine hits feel less meaningful and detaching meaning from being. This isn’t how the generation be ..read more

Hosting Dinner Party Tips

After my recent end-of-summer dinner party I realized there are a few actions I implemented to help uncomplicate the hosting experience. Here are my personal hosting dinner party tips: Starting with the food, for a dinner party, I made it straightforward by having a minimum of three dishes, a protein, carb, and veggie plate. Having food for 8+ people can feel daunting but making sure you have something to eat for everyone is key. One guest was a vegetarian, I recommend always having an extra side for them. It can be as simple as making chicken kabobs with grilled veggies on in and having some ..read more

60's style bikini

Based on an original design from the 1960s, this Hammie’s bikini features a simple two-color suit with white rick rack trim and buttons at the back of the top for a retro look. I like how the bikini top looks backwards, so I am wearing it that way. It give me a little more cleavage and looks more stylish in my opinion. A classic bikini style, with a look from the 1960s. The Hammies Bikini is a flattering style that covers more skin than any other bathing suit I own. It’s a modern fashion take on a retro swimsuit. If you want one, head to Hammies and use my name BROOKLYNSCHUGAR as a discount c ..read more

Polly Park Clothing A couple of weeks ago, the brand polly park reached out to me and sent me these matching purple sets that inspired me to do a tennis shoot with my friend Elada. Because one of the pieces of clothing items is a tennis shirt I opted to shoot on a tennis court. I went on Pinterest for inspiration pics and then went on craigslist to used find tennis balls. I bought 40 tennis balls for $40. Props in a photo make a big difference. After the shoot I put the tennis balls back on Craigslist which still haven’t sold yet. It is pretty fun when brands reach out to me to collaborate. L ..read more

I spend this past weekend camping in the woods at a spring survival post 84 trip. Post 84 is a student lead no-profit organization focused on giving teens outdoor education. They run a variety of different trips, from snow camping, into to rock climbing. If you have read any of my previous blog posts, you’d know I’m all about putting yourself in new situations and getting out of your comfort zone as much as possible. In February I went to post 84’s Sibara trip which was a day of snowshoeing, and a night of snow camping. Previous to that I’d never even been camping before. I was debating going ..read more

Break down of my St. Patrick’s day outfit: Starting with the Summer dream airbus work pants from Big Bud Press, These off-white pants have spacious front pockets with airbrushed pastel chalk cloud patterns. With a stretchy waistband in the back, The butt pockets have rainbows with a purple bird and are airbrushed in LA. The forest green threading is the exact color of my Aritzia polar fleece shirt jacket. Styling them together made me feel super duper coordinated. I put an alligator chunks clip in my hair to get those curls out of my face.  My blue star rings is from mon cher moiI thought ..read more

The scariest place to be is in the same place as last year

The scariest place to be is in the same place as last year. Surrounding yourself with the same people, thinking the same thoughts, and not allowing yourself to be uncomfortable long enough to grow.  While scrolling through social media, I saw a post joking about if they called everyone they had in their contacts most of them wouldn’t pick up. I couldn’t help but put myself in that same situation, if I called every single person I know, they would all mostly pick up, because I had never done anything shady and I try to stay as transparent as possible with everyone that comes into my life ..read more

Shout out to my girl Maxine for taking these holiday photos. Maxine asked me and my friend, Cypress, to model for her mini holiday photoshoot for promo ads. This seasonal mini session was 30 minutes, behind a backdrop with fun props like presents, an empty picture frame, and a Christmas tree. What I love about her photography style and these photos down below is that she’s great at guiding you on how to pose, letting us come up with ideas, and changing the frame. Max is so calm, chill, and creates an encouraging environment. Max and her dad own the creative block, a gorgeous studio space. I’ve ..read more

Nothing to lose... shh that ego

I’ve been trying to be more mindful about living without being so in my head. Trying to remember that there is rarely anything to lose just by trying. Recently, I participated in hook-up culture for the first time. Ok, it was just a makeout sesh (calm down). For some of my friends who go to more parties than I do, hook up’s with random dudes is a casual Friday night. The hookup culture normalizes being intimate very fast. And, I don’t think I’m cut out for it. Or rather I don’t have any interest in participating. I don’t have any judgment or think there is anything wrong with it, in the moment ..read more
