If you haven’t heard about GoodBuy Gear yet, then this is probably a second hand retailer you’ll want to know about it. If you’re looking for reviews on GoodBuy Gear, welcome! I’m a mom of three who likes functional baby gear that makes my life easier, which sometimes means going for higher end brands. (You can read about my favorite double stroller here, but also my favorite wagon which is much more affordable than many on the market.) My experience buying discounted baby gear from Goodbuy Gear is below. I paid for the item with my own money, and they did not know I was planning to write a r ..read more

Whether you’re at home with more than one kiddo or are just trying to find fun things to do to keep your preschooler occupied while you take a work call (no judgement here), here are 5 fun activities you can do at home with your preschooler. These are my go-to activities when it’s too hot (or cold) to go outside! 5 fun activities for when it’s too hot (or cold) to go outside Make a card and send it to someone. Your preschooler can help put on the stamp and a sticker to seal the envelope. Talk about the numbers on the front of the envelope, or the letters, or whatever they’re interested in. A ..read more

My Top Baby Sleep Tips (What Worked, What Didn’t) – After 3 Babies
Feathers and Stripes | Boston fashion and travel blog
by FeathersAndStripes
1M ago
I was talking to my sister recently about newborn sleep tips and how hard it can be in the beginning. We were talking about getting a baby to sleep through the night. (Something that my first born didn’t do for almost a year.) Now that we have 3 kids, including one who sleeps SO well, I feel like I have a good handle on what works and doesn’t work for getting a baby to sleep. First, let me say that every baby is different. But because I purposely did a few things with our third that I never did with our first and second baby, I think I have some good advice to offer other parents. I hope some ..read more

The Ultimate Guide to Fun Summer Activities with Kids

With school wrapping up in just a couple of short weeks, I’m looking forward to the upcoming days filled with fun summer activities for the kids. My kids are 1, 3, and 6, and outside of two weeks of a family vacation, we don’t have too much planned this summer. While it seems like the norm to sign up for summer camp for the entire summer, I didn’t do that. I really want my kids to have time at home to relax and just enjoy summertime as a kid. Time feels like it’s flying by too fast, and in just a few short years I’ll have all three in full time school! Plus, I have fond memories of playing wi ..read more

Hiring a Night Nurse: Costs, How It Worked, and Was It Worth It

I didn’t ever think I’d hire a night nurse for my babies. My husband is a totally hands-on dad, so I guess I didn’t think we’d need hired help because the two of us managed pretty well for our first two babies. But then our third baby came along, and suddenly we were outnumbered. I realized just how much I needed to let my husband sleep at night so he could be ON with our 5 year old and 2 year old during the day. And I knew I would benefit from the extra rest, too, if we had extra hands at night. Sleep deprivation is part of parenting and new motherhood, for sure. But then after hearing how g ..read more

Summer Bucket List

Now that we’ve had a few nice days in a row, I’m antsy to start the summer. By that, I mean pool parties, patio lunches, and wearing dresses everyday! I love being able to get my kids outdoors every day, whether it’s to meet up with friends at a playground or go on a grand adventure in our closest city. I’ve always loved seeing what is on other people’s bucket lists for different seasons, so today I’m sharing my own summertime list! (Sidenote: I don’t know if it’s correct to call it a summer bucket list, since “bucket list” implies that it’s something you do before you die. But maybe it’s ok ..read more

Summer Capsule Wardrobe for Moms
Feathers and Stripes | Boston fashion and travel blog

Two summers ago I was in great shape, last summer I was newly postpartum, and this summer I’m kind of in between sizes. So instead of investing in a bunch of new clothes I’m building myself a summer capsule wardrobe. I’m posting this here with a few caveats. First, I’m very much a believer in finding something you like and buying it in multiple colors. It makes life so much easier when you feel good in what you’re wearing. Second, this doesn’t include stuff like pajamas and loungewear or swim. And thirdly, a capsule wardrobe for work is an entirely different thing. I’m a stay at home mom who ..read more

My sister was the first one to find Little Sleepies pajamas back in 2020. She sent us a matching set when our second child was a newborn, and we’ve been hooked since. The fun prints, the bright colors, the soft stretchy material! A mom started this brand and they’re now arguably one of the top bamboo pj brands. Little Sleepies offers two-piece pajamas, zip up pjs for babies and toddlers (up to 3T), and even some pajamas for moms, dads, and other adults. They started making bed sheets, swaddles, blankets, loveys, and hair bows, too, plus some clothing items under their “Play” line. Since I fee ..read more

The Best Brands for Narrow Toddler Shoes
Feathers and Stripes | Boston fashion and travel blog
by FeathersAndStripes

I had SUCH a hard time finding shoes that fit well on my daughter because of how narrow her feet were as a baby. The shoes everyone swore by didn’t work for us. They were usually too wide and would fall off her foot, or they just looked uncomfortable once she started walking. So… Much like my clothing guide for tall thin babies, I’m sharing what worked for us because I had to figure it all out on my own with trial and error! Hopefully this helps you find a great pair of shoes if you have a toddler with really narrow feet. Dressy toddler shoes The most narrow ballet flats I could find were ac ..read more
