Last month I went to a friend’s wedding in Orlando, Florida. My husband couldn’t get the time off from work, so I left the kiddos with my sister for the weekend and flew out. The maid of honor, Jenny, planned an elaborate bachelorette party for all of us in the bridal party. There were 7 ..read more

Summer is here and in full swing…heat and even quite a bit of humidity lately for us Phoenicians. The sun, heat, humidity, and chlorine that this time of year brings can leave your hair not looking its best. I thought I would share some tips and remedies to help keep your hair healthy or repair damages that you might have.
First of all, the easiest way to maintain healthy hair is from the inside out, starting with a healthy diet. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, especially this time of year! Your hair needs moisture from water, but it will also become more moisturized from organic b ..read more

One activity that my kids love to do is playdough. I, too, remember being at preschool as a young child and one of my favorite things was making and playing with peanut butter playdough. You get to make it, play with it, then eat it! What’s not to love?!
Playdough is a great learning tool. Kids can practice shapes, use their imagination, and work on their manual dexterity. My twins love to make bird nests then roll up little balls of playdough and say they are bird eggs. They also love making snakes by rolling the playdough out or making all sorts of shapes by using cookie cutters.

Okay, I am crowdsourcing some help with my dilemma, because I’m really stumped… how do you keep toy clutter to a minimum when your kid wants to keep everything?
So, like most kids, my two children have all sorts of toys, and I’m trying my best to keep them to a manageable level. Meaning, that the toys we have are ones that get played with regularly, are working and in good condition, and are contained in the storage spaces we have and not overflowing the house. The trouble, however, is that my daughter (age 4.5) wants to keep every toy she’s ever had, no matter if it’s something she’s outgrown ..read more

I’m back again this month with 2 recipes my family eats regularly. In order to save money, I’ve cut out buying pre-made mixes like Bisquick and some packaged snacks. (Not too mention making homemade mixes and snacks are much healthier too!)
Here are some easy recipes for you and your family! Freeze and save leftovers!
INGREDIENTS
2 large eggs
1 ¾ cups milk (I have used everything from skim milk to thick buttermilk…so whatever you have on hand should work)
¼ cup oil (I used coconut oil)
1 tablespoon honey
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ cups whole-wheat flour
2 teaspoons b ..read more

My husband and I have started a new journey. He is starting a new job and with any new life-altering decision, we needed to configure our money. We really want to stick to our budget and make some good financial gains this next year. All this being said, each month I will give you different money-saving tips that we have adapted (or attempting) to make our lives a bit less stressful and more financially savvy.
This month’s tip is one my husband and I have started and stopped many times but are committed to doing long-term: paying with cash. The studies are out there: you spend less money when ..read more

Each year, we seem to add more and more traditions to our growing family. I love it! I’m curious which ones will stay and which ones won’t. Some of the things that we are doing now, I can guarantee won’t fly when my kids become teenagers, but for now, I will soak in all these memories.
Traditions are really important for my husband and I. They mark a season. They help focus us on the present – what is currently happening at this point in time in our own lives as well as connecting us to global customs and traditions. Just like the smell of a certain cookie brings you back to your grandmas hous ..read more

This time of year is so fun! The holidays surround us, everything is decorated, Christmas songs are playing, and there are tons of parties and celebration going on. While I love all of these things and participate in most all of them, I think my perspective has shifted a bit since I have had my kids. It is no doubt that my husband and I love to buy things for our children (shopping for them was the most fun of all!), however we also want to make sure that they have a heart of blessing others and not being greedy or selfish. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in all the hype of the holidays that we ..read more

It is officially the holiday season. Thanksgiving is behind us and the next month or so brings promise of days filled with family gatherings, lengthy shopping and errand trips, and travel to see loved ones near and far. Even the most scheduled of families have to find extra balance during these busy weeks and often that means adjusting the daily routine to fit around whatever extra events are on the agenda that day. As any parent can tell you, having to adjust a little one’s schedule is not always an easy task. Naptimes, mealtimes and even play times are often disrupted and can cause your litt ..read more
