The San Jose Sharks close out pre-4 Nations play tonight by hosting the Dallas Stars. This is game 57 on the Sharks’ schedule which means once the teams return from the break, it will be a sprint to the finish. There are just 25 games left on the schedule after the break.
This is a welcome home game for Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci. Exactly one week ago, the duo was traded from the Sharks to the Stars in a deal that sent draft picks back to San Jose. Granlund seems to be settling in okay with the Stars. He’s played three games and has two points. Ceci has averaged more than 20 minutes per gam ..read more

The San Jose Sharks put up a fight last night against the Vancouver Canucks at the SAP Center, which resulted in a 2-1 loss in overtime. The Canucks currently are holding that fourth-place spot in the Pacific Division with 25 wins in 54 games played. Their captain, Quinn Hughes, has been out for three consecutive games for an undisclosed injury and he did not play last night. As for the Sharks, they are all over the place following some trades, AHL call-ups, and new lines.

The Vancouver Canucks and the San Jos Sharks meet for the third time this season and both teams look different than they did the last time they met. The teams played on Nov. 2, 2024, when the Sharks lost 3-2. They played again on Dec. 23, 2024 when the Sharks lost again, this time by a score of 4-3.
Since then, the Sharks have traded away Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci, while the Canucks have traded J.T. Miller and Erik Brannstrom and added Filip Chytil, Marcus Pettersson and Drew O’Connor. Last night, the Canucks announced that Marcus Pettersson has signed a six-year extension with the team, w ..read more

Closing out games is something championship caliber teams do. The trouble is, the San Jose Sharks are still trying to find that gear. The Sharks led the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 after one period and took a 2-2 tie into the third, but could not manage to get that much needed final goal to seal the game. Despite the team’s best efforts, San Jose fell to Montreal by a final score of 4-3.
Looking at Natural Stat Trick’s game flow chart in at even strength, you can see that the Sharks never really dominated the game.
In fact, most of the damage for both teams was done on special teams. The Sharks sc ..read more

This will be San Jose’s first game without Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci. On Saturday, General Manager Mike Grier traded the two veteran players for two draft picks, including a first-round pick in 2025. With Ceci and Granlund leaving and no NHL-level players coming back in the deal, the Sharks will have to ..read more

The San Jose Sharks have moved some key pieces ahead of the Four Nations Tournament. On Saturday, the team announced that it had traded forward Mikael Granlund and defenseman Cody Ceci to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Dallas’ 2025 first-round pick and a conditional third-round pick. The Sharks will only receive the third-round pick if the Stars advance to the Stanley Cup Final. If Dallas does not make it that far, then the Sharks will receive a 2025 fourth-round pick (Winnipeg’s) instead.
The trade adds some more picks to the Sharks’ holdings for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. San Jose now has e ..read more

The San Jose Sharks won the game on Monday in San Jose against the Pittsburg Penguins, ending their eight-game losing streak. While recording a win is nice, the Sharks fell again to the Seattle Kraken last night in Washington. As the Sharks seem to continue to defend the team’s position at the bottom of the Pacific Division, it comes down to two things: What is working? And what isn’t?
Mikael Granlund and the members of the “70’s Line” (Macklin Celebrini, Tyler Toffoli, and William Eklund) are prime examples of what continues to work on this team.
Granlund, for example, received a secondary as ..read more

The Saginaw Spirit had to wait a bit longer than expected for the arrival of the team’s highly touted summer signing and San Jose Sharks prospect Igor Chernyshov, but the wait was well worth it. Chernyshov, who was selected 33rd overall by the Sharks in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, exploded out of the gate in his first game with the Spirit, scoring his first-ever OHL goal less than a minute into his first OHL game and 10 seconds into his first OHL shift.

The San Jose Sharks take a quick trip to Seattle today after a bit of rest and relaxation. The players had a chance to hang out with their dads and mentors as part of an annual team tradition. The group had dinner together last night and are preparing together for tonight’s game against the Kraken.

A few weeks ago, we took a look at the San Jose Sharks forwards and how they’re doing this season, specifically compared to last season. This post, we’re going to take a look at the defense. The turnover on defense has been less pronounced than that of the forward group, but it’s still there. Of the defensemen on the roster in the month of January, four of them were on the roster in January 2024 — Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Mario Ferraro, Jan Rutta and Henry Thrun. While Shakir Mukhamadullin was with the Sharks organization last year, he was playing in the AHL with the Barracuda.
