I say it's part of the seven mile promenade and opponents of the redevelopment have obsessively begun calling it a park, never to be built upon, current pavilions notwithstanding.

I would like to hear some opinions on ways to actually help struggling Baltimore neighborhoods— Preferably from folks who live in the city, know these communities, or live in them.
As an example, I have participated in a cleanup group that picks up trash in the Mount Claire neighborhood. I think the clean up group is doing a good thing, but it’s just the tiniest drop in the bucket compared to the weight of the problems in these neighborhoods (drug use, crime, poverty, homelessness, etc.) We’ve also done clothing donation events for folks in the neighborhood, cookouts, and that sort of a thing ..read more

Quick rundown:
Moved into a CHAP Rowhome (renovated in 2023) last year in May, and after several months, we realized that both our living room and basement windows were leaking every time that it rains. Since we recently bought the house, we had the builder come out and take a look. After 7 months of recaulking, ripping out interior gyp. jambs and sills, repointing in specific areas, and finally, repointing the entire front facade of the house, we are still having leaks. Our jambs have been open to the brick wythes since November.

Signed up at Catholic Charities, didn't get so much as a pingback email... have scoured the internet and I just can't find any good steady, part time volunteer opps! Since my kids flew the nest I have a little more time and I would like to give something back to the community.
For background, I work in tech (on design and research side), I am a good writer, and also have a background in child development/childcare. I have a LOT of renovation/construction skills, also, though I wouldn't say I am burly or anything, lol. (50+ female, still pretty strong and tough!)

I am looking to compile a list of resources available to boost literacy rates for students K-12. If there are not many (I hope this is not the case), I am considering putting together a program that aids in doing so in Baltimore City. I’d love to hear about any free or subsidized programs you have heard of. I will do my own research in the mean time, but would appreciate some pointers!
