Today is my birthday! I can hardly believe it, but today - I am 60 years old. What? How in the world can it be? I feel like I should be in my 30’s maybe. Zero to thirty went by fast, but 30-60 was on hyper speed. A lot has happened in my life - a lot of hard things - and a lot of amazing things. Today, well all month actually, I am celebrating the goodness of the Lord! He has been faithful and never ceases to amaze me. I only have one regret and that is I wish I had fallen in love with Jesus earlier and made Him #1 in my life sooner. I encourage you to do it right now and never look back. Jus ..read more

Are you Dormant or Blooming? It’s Spring! Yay!!! And today it actually looks and feels like it. Oh, how I love the spring weather, the appearance of growth on the plants, long walks, and being outside without freezing or sweating buckets. I am just hoping it will last more that a few days. This is the season where you just might find me running the heater and the air conditioner in the same day. This morning, I googled “is my butterfly plant dead”. On the website, gardeningknowhow.com, I read 3 things I could do to see if it was dead, dormant, or still alive… Try the scratch test. Gently sc ..read more

5 Reasons You Aren't Leading

5 Reasons You Aren’t Leading Are you ready? This may be a bit painful, but let’s see which one(s) apply to us and deal with them. Will you be brave enough to message me with the ones that deter you from rising up to lead? 5.  I don’t feel like it. We are conforming to the world and allowing our feelings to determine what we say and do. Our feelings can trip us up, derail us, and lead us astray. Do you remember when Satan hissed, “Did God really say?” Eve felt like God had been unfair and she was missing out. That was not true at all. This is just one example that we cannot trust our feeli ..read more

What is Your Excuse?

What is Your Excuse? We have all heard “excuses are useless” and they really are. We get it when we are listening to the excuses of others. We can see right through them and recognize what they are doing. But… what about when we are making excuses? Do we recognize it? Or are we choosing to lean into denial? What is your excuse? What excuses are you not recognizing? What excuses are you in denial about? And to take it a step farther, what is behind your excuse? You see, being a Christian is not a spectator sport. We are not called to pray to receive Jesus and then just sit back and watch the wo ..read more

By Chance or By Design?

By Chance or By Design? That’s a good question, isn’t it? How many things do we believe happen by chance when it was actually God’s design? This week, I had a “by design” moment. For 23 years of my life, I heard Andy Horner use the phrase, by chance or by design. He even wrote a book sharing the story of Premier Designs, Inc. and used that as the title. He often shared that nothing is by chance, but instead by God’s design. As I sat at breakfast with 3 friends, I realized we were not there by chance. We were all there by God’s design. I had no idea how much this one meal, these 2 hours of conv ..read more

Arise, Shine!   Ugh! Here we go…   So, you may know that I am a Life and Leadership coach and that I also have a podcast with my friends called, Engage for More. Well… we pre-recorded our podcast episodes for February, and they were all about obedience. The episode titles are Do I have Enough Faith?, Walking in Disobedience, What Does It Mean to Trust and Obey?, and What Lies on the Other Side of Obedience?.  Recently, my coaching sessions seem to mostly be going in the same direction. I have been working with clients and encouraging them to trust God enough to obey and offer fo ..read more

Lead Me as I Lead Others

Lead Me as I Lead Others   Whether we want to admit it and accept it or not, being a Christ follower means we should be leading others to Him. It’s not easy and it’s not always comfortable. But nevertheless, it is what we are instructed to do.     It should be our daily cry! Help! Lord, lead me as I lead others to You. Whether they are coming to us for advice, guidance, encouragement, correction, support, or salvation – our goal is to point them to Jesus.   It is so easy to say, yet not so easy to do. Have you ever thought about it? What is your response when others come to ..read more

New Year New Goals

New Year New Goals   Here we are beginning a new year. We have passed our first week where we were setting resolutions and choosing words of the year. I wonder why we feel it necessary to follow the customs of everyone around us.   Let’s don’t. Instead, let’s sit and think… really ponder… what matters most?   Let’s choose this year to really focus on the one thing that matters most of all the things in our life. Hmm… it is not our physical health, our finances, or our circle of friends. It is not our time management, our stress level or our spending habits. However, the One thin ..read more

4 Steps to Overcome the Overwhelm, Part 4

4 Steps to Overcome Overwhelm, Part 4   Don’t live in the overwhelm when you can live in the overflow.   For the past few weeks, we have been talking about overwhelm. We are hearing so much about it these days. We are even claiming it as ours. Why are we doing that? Jesus did not tell us that He came so we could be overwhelmed. No, He said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10   When we feel the overwhelm rising up inside of us, what if we stopped and chose to intentionally…   1.     Remem ..read more

4 Steps to Overcome Overwhelm, Part 3

4 Steps to Overcome Overwhelm, Part 3   Oh, the overwhelm. It wants to seep into our lives like a sneaky thief and run out the door with all of our peace. Sometimes it uses the power of suggestion. A friend shares that she is overwhelmed, and our mind decides that we should be overwhelmed as well. And other times things pile up, one on top of another and another and another, and we become buried – giving into it all. But… what if there was a better way?   If you have been following along, you know that we are looking at Ephesians 2. As I shared recently at a local women’s event, God ..read more
