Need help getting sccm pxe boot going

I just came onboard a company that has sccm and has had it for some time, it’s running config manager 2016 and initially the guy who set it up kept wds running and couldn’t figure sccm out for image deployment so he ended up using SmartDeploy and did them one by one. They do have wsus running for updates but that is about it. It has been forever since I have had to configure sccm so I may just be overlooking something. When I have it configured to run PXE without WDS it hits the server, I verified that much in the log and with wireshark. But it keeps telling me “TFTP: cannot open boot\x64\wds ..read more

How to patch systems that missed patching deadline?

Hello, This month, I had 100 odd systems not patch with Cumulative and .NET Framework updates with this month's patching cycle and the deadline has passed. In a few spot checks, I can see that the updates show as missing in the All Updates tab of the Client Center for Configuration tool, but nothing I do will trigger the updates to become pending and scheduled. Since I already have the updates downloaded and part of SUG, I created a and ran an ADR that targeted a collection of the systems missing the updates, set to immediately available and a deadline of 3 days. However, I'm still not seeing ..read more

Task Sequence condition based on RAID enabled

I have a step in my OSD task sequence that changes Dell storage controllers from RAID to AHCI in the BIOS. I'd like to add a condition that only allows the step to run if the controller is set to RAID. I'm thinking probably a WMI query but I am not versed in WMI queries. Does anyone know how I could do this? submitted by /u/CompetitiveFeeling98 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Enabling Block process creations originating from PSExec and WMI commands ASR Rule for SCCM clients

Hi guys, my company is thinking of applying Defender ASR rules in block mode for our co-managed devices. Am a bit concerned about this rule ("Enabling Block process creations originating from PSExec and WMI commands") because Microsoft warns not to apply it if you are using SCCM client because they use WMI. The rule has been in Audit mode for a year and the security team say they have not seen any incidents involving the rule but am still skeptical given the warning by Microsoft. What is you guys advice on this? Has anyone experienced a challenge with this rule on SCCM clients? submitted by ..read more

How to get CCMCACHE folder size.

I was trying to do this last week and came across several places where others were trying to do the same. I am by no means an expert, and someone may have a better way to do this, but here is something that worked for me. This powershell script will get the "C:\Windows\ccmcache" folder size and write the folder size to a registry key. You could create a new script \Software Library\Overview\Scripts to run or us this as part of a startup script to keep it updated. You pick your own poison for deploying the script. Just change the "YOUR_COMPANY_NAME" # Define the folder path $FolderPath = "C ..read more

Since last week, our computers are comanage. Yes! So I am trying to distribute some store apps as pilot. Nothing is happening on the computers. We found an error 0x8024500c. Seems usually it is cauded by "do not connect to any Windows update Internet locations group policy that blocks Windows update access. Our current settings are: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate] "AcceptTrustedPublisherCerts"=dword:00000001 "DisableDualScan"=dword:00000001 "SetPolicyDrivenUpdateSourceForDriverUpdates"=dword:00000001 "SetPolicyDrivenUpdateSourceForFeatureUpdates"=dword:0 ..read more

I have multiple Entra servers which are domain joined, but they're not getting Windows updates from SCCM. My on-prem servers are getting updates from SCCM. In SCCM monitor / deployments those Entra servers have an error: 0X80240440 The connection to the service endpoint died. I can't figure out why the connection dies. Any troubleshooting help would be appreciated. submitted by /u/AATW_82nd [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
