Placing parts around switching converter's inductor

I want to place this mosfets and diodes around the inductor. Those mosfets are to turn on/off power, nothing high speed switching, 4 layer board gnd-gnd-gnd-gnd. question will this effect the inductor performance? Is there any point of placing those Vias around the inductor ? will this create more coil wining? https://preview.redd.it/ahd51gfrcvxc1.png?width=1772&format=png&auto=webp&s=0db07e00149bf36457c1fe66d4b5c461330f9a1b https://preview.redd.it/sx4qumyxcvxc1.png?width=1226&format=png&auto=webp&s=d6b53deebc0d0c5d3bce0fcd2959b8db024c4bb1 submitted by /u/adyaan ..read more

Review Request: 5V power switching pcb for 4 peristaltic pumps

The goal of this PCB is to provide on/off switching to 4 peristaltic pumps. Each pump draws ~350mA of current and this board is only expected to turn a single pump on or off at a time. The board is interfaced to our mainboard through an RJ45 connection. We picked this connection as our mainboard may be up to a meter away, it's a strong connection (hard to rip out) and it comes with all the connections bundled in a single wire while being readily available. Kicad image settings for review.

Hey guys, I was looking into exporting all the required images of my board I recently designed in kicad. I am quite new at this and can't seem to be able to export the images in a satisfactory manner. Everytime I print it to file it puts the silkscreen behind the copper traces in the output file which makes it really unreadable. How do you guys export these in kicad ? Is there a way to print to file exactly what I'm currently seeing in the editor with the layer settings I have there ? submitted by /u/mindoo [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Review Request of simple STM32 based drone controller

This board is meant to the ground drone and for learning STM32. I am using STM32F302RCT and it doesnt do any PWM here. It just sends UART/SPI commands to the other modules telling them what they have to do. Transistor array is meant to control 5V LED lights. External crystal is used for USB that is needed for DFU for this MCU. Pins are used to flash MCU via ST-Link V2 SWD. This is my first STM32 based PCB, so i am very new to STM32 and might do some very obvious mistakes - this is not a troll post. [Review request] 1.5kW SMPS full bridge inverter.

Hello everyone. I have a project at my university where I must design and build a DC/DC power supply that can deliver up to 500V at 1500W from 100V input. We have decided to split this into multiple parts, where the first part is a full bridge inverter, which have been the focus here. · 4 Layers with internal layers being power and ground · Input voltage: 100V · Output voltage: 300-500V · Output power: up to 1500W · Switching frequency 250kHz For the gate drivers we use the IR2184 [Datasheet(S)-DataSheet-v01_00-EN.pdf?fileId=5546d462533600a4015355c955e616d4)] and for the mosfets so far IR ..read more

[Review Request] ESP32 SPI Interface (+ Shielding Question)

This device is used to interface with a peripheral through a mini-DIN-6 cable. The protocol is very similar to SPI (with two extra lines) and the ESP32 functions as the slave. Voltage dividers are used to reduce two 5V lines and one 12V line from the master down to ~3.3V for the ESP32. 3.3V outputs from the ESP32 are fed directly to the master. Not the most fancy solution, but the clock is slow and it works. A USB connector is provided for power supply and flashing purposes. A button is used to put the ESP32 into programming mode for the initial flash and is then used as a soft reset butt ..read more

How Can I Access The Pins In The Middle Of An IC?

I'm using a BLE nRF52832 module for bluetooth, and it has a bunch of pins in the middle. How can I access these without the trace interfering with the other pins? I'm using Flux to design my PCB. As shown in the attatched screenshot, wouldn't the trace to the inner pins activate the outer pins? https://preview.redd.it/tq7xplwnuixc1.png?width=882&format=png&auto=webp&s=8155f2f7bf9a013e0aba58ff549ea84c047ac102 submitted by /u/Prudent-Oil-207 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Dumb BGA questions

We have never used BGA FPGAs before. We are looking at a 49 ball 0.4mm package and use a via-in-pad pcb layout (4-layer board). Do the FPGA pads get solder paste stenciled just like the rest of the board? Can the via-in-pad be filled with solder to plug the via prior to the pick-and-place machine mounting the FPGA? submitted by /u/logicalprogressive [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

[Review Request] ESP32 LED string controller (and a few questions)

This is my first PCB design. I followed Robert Feranec's tutorial on using EasyEDA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S\_p0YV-JlfU), and would appreciate it if someone could take a look and give me some feedback. More details below the images. Schematic Top Layer Bottom Layer Both Layers 3D My goal: To use an ESP32 to control (PWM) 4 independent fairy light LED strings. These LED strings are generally powered by 2 AA batteries (or 3 AA batteries with a 50-100 Ohm resistor), and consume around 100 mA each. I have added USB-A headers to power them, with potentiometers to tune maximum brightne ..read more
