The Atascocita Eagles are getting ready for the state track meet, coming off a regional title.
They have as good of a chance as possible to start off state with a bang, due to the first event being the 4x100 relay. Back in March, Atascocita’s 4x100 team set a national record at Rice, with a blazing 38.92 time. They broke a record that dated back to 1998 by nearly a full second.
“That’s the first event and it’ll set the tone,” head track coach Elton Ervin said. “Our guys are locked in. This team has some seniors, and these guys are locked in and taking advantage of their last meet.”

Airlines will now be forced to offer full refunds for flights that don’t get off the ground or are delayed, among other issues.
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced the new rule on Wednesday. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg calling this new set of regulations the end of the “refund runaround.”
In the rule released the U.S. DOT, airlines will now be required to offer automatic full cash refunds for all canceled flights as well as significantly changed flights.

A woman was evaluated after slamming her vehicle into a massage parlor Wednesday morning in northwest Harris County, according to Harris County Constable Pct. 4.
The collision was called in around 9 a.m. at the 1 and 1 Massage Parlor, located in the 4900 block of FM 1960 Road W.

A community in Fort Bend County says they have concerns about the taste and smell of the water.
“It’s not normal. We’ve lived here for 17 years, and we have never had the smell, the taste and skin issues that we are having now,” Tamara Lipani said.
Residents in the Pecan Grove community told KPRC 2 the problem started on Friday.

A grandmother worried about paying daily HOA fines calls KPRC 2 to help resolve issues with a utility box in front of her home.
The box is a utility hub for several condominiums around her. Because of this, Bernadette Stinson said it’s filled to the brim.
“The lines are pushing the box up,” Stinson said. “They’re not staying inside.”

Three families of people who died on the waiting list for liver transplants at Memorial Hermann Hospital have taken legal action against the surgeon accused of altering patient data.

A deputy has died after he was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in northwest Harris County, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The Harris County deputy was assisting at a crash scene on the Grand Parkway at Cumberland Ridge Drive when he was struck by an ongoing vehicle.
Life Flight was called to transport the deputy to Memorial Herman in the Medical Center. He was listed to be in serious condition but it was later announced that he died from his injuries.

Sunnyside resident Quan Boyd lost her son to gun violence in 2022. Less than two years later, she is hoping she hasn’t lost another loved one.
Boyd has had her dog, Pucci, for around three years after ordering her from South Korea. She is named after Boyd’s favorite fashion designer, Emilio Pucci, and she is a White-Cream Small Maltipoo. Pucci’s only around four pounds, and she rarely traveled far from home.
