OCD cards to help you crush your OCD

I have gotten the best feedback from how impactful these OCD cards have been for families! It can be so hard to get our kids with OCD to work on OCD skills. Now it is so much easier! All you have to do is have them pick a card each day and they’ll be working on OCD consistently! The cards were developed with clinically sound, evidenced based approaches on OCD that I have implemented in my practice for over two decades. The OCD cards cover 4 key areas: -ERP (exposure response prevention) -Self worth and self-esteem -Motivation -Family involvement with OCD Go to Natashadaniels.com/shop to grab y ..read more

My favorite Valentine’s Day self-esteem boost

Our kids with anxiety or OCD often struggle with self-confidence and low self-esteem. It is hard to experience struggles in areas where their peers aren’t. I’m always looking for ways to boost my child’s self-confidence. One of my favorites is what I do for Valentine’s Day (in the years I have the energy). I write things I love about them on hearts and tape them to their bedroom doors. ‘ Even though they are teens now, I can see how these hearts light them up. Also, they tend to leave up on their door long after Valentine’s Day ?. Do you have any Valentine’s traditions? Share in the comments ..read more

Do You Mentally Review Past Events for Your OCD?
Natasha Daniels
by Natasha Daniels

OCD feeds off of compulsions, including mental compulsions. Often OCD mental compulsions are missed, even by the person that is doing them! Mental reviewing is one of those compulsions people do without realizing they are growing their OCD. Does OCD give you intrusive thoughts that you have done something in the past that confirms all the lies OCD is trying to sell you? Does OCD make you playback that event over and over? Does OCD want you to ask other people about the past situation to get reassurance or validation? These are all signs you might be doing a mental reviewing compulsion that is ..read more

We keep the doors to the AT Parenting Community closed because of the level of in-depth support it takes when new members join. That is why we only open our doors a few times a year. When we open, I clear my schedule and make our current members aware that we are welcoming in new parents. That way we are ready for parents who need extra guidance, new energy and lots of questions. The doors to the AT Parenting Community close tomorrow and we won’t reopen until the summer. Get support and guidance on tap when and how you need it by joining us! Realistic vs unrealistic goals for OCD
Natasha Daniels
by Natasha Daniels

The #1 biggest mistake parents make when trying to help their kids with OCD is trying to set up goals that are doomed to fail. Often this is because we want things to get better fast. Sometimes our children with OCD are in crisis or are not functioning. but OCD doesn’t care about our timeline. It doesn’t care that you want your child to get OCD relief. Setting up realistic, micro goals for OCD is key. You want to ask yourself, “what is one small change my child or teen with OCD is willing and able to make?” If they aren’t able or willing to make any changes. What is one small thing YOU can cha ..read more

You aren’t supposed to do this alone. That’s what so many AT Parenting Community members realized the minute they joined. They realized that they had been flailing, sinking and drowning, trying to help their child with anxiety or OCD. They realized that they were second-guessing everything they were doing. Maybe that describes you as well. I don’t need to tell you that raising kids with anxiety or OCD is hard stuff. It requires skills and counterintuitive approaches. It requires you to change everything you understand about parenting in order to effectively help your child. It requires you to ..read more

Did you know I offered in-depth support?

I recently had a friend say she needed a flow chart to understand the multitude of resources I provide. She’s not the only person who has said this to me. That’s the problem when you churn out resource after resource. It can all get a bit confusing. That’s why I’m not surprised when people say they weren’t aware of the AT Parenting Community and what it offers. The AT Parenting Community is an in-depth, membership community where I have created a space for parents to feel supported, educated and guided in order to better help their kids with OCD and anxiety. You can ask me direct questions, re ..read more

3 step anchoring process

⚓️ Register below if you want to learn this 3-step grounding process I talk about in my free series. The series is over, but watch the replay all weekend before it is taken down! Showing up to our child’s OCD or anxiety struggles is HARD. But it is truly the one thing we can fully control. More often than not we show up with our own overwhelm, anger, anxiety or hopelessness. We cannot help our anxious kids with intention and calm when we ourselves are not anchored. It is a daily (hourly ?) practice to learn how to anchor yourself. The more you use this 3-step process, the easier and more natur ..read more
