Our Wacky Family Holiday Card 2019

We shot our Christmas card this year, and it was as wacky as wacky can be, which was expected going into it, so there were no real surprises, haha! There’s not much control I can have over things when I’m dealing with three little ones, especially with one of them being a nursing infant. This year we decided to work with the talented Jazz Shademan, who also shot the boys’ room for our Emerald Rouge collaboration. We decided to do it at home even though I didn’t have a real plan creatively for how it was going to go, and then the concept accidentally came about the night before the shoot ..read more

Creating a Toddler Reading Nook

If you have the space for it, creating a library and reading areas for your little ones is so fun and important! As part of our big home remodel, I brought on Nareh Hovsepian of Emerald Rouge to design the boys’ bedrooms and bathroom (can’t wait to share the full reveal very soon!), and together we created the perfect little reading nook in the older boys’ room. (It’s one of my favorite spots in the house!) Step 1: Build the Space Whether you decide on shelving like we did or baskets, you need to decide how you’re going to ..read more

Time Management for the Busy Mom (How to Single-task)

As much as I've talked about multitasking recently, I've also been learning how amazing it is to not multitask and do the exact opposite. What I mean by that is literally doing only one task at a time. Don't try to do a million things at once. The Problem with Multi-Tasking As much as I feel like I can be and always have been (even pre-motherhood) good at multitasking, doing it makes me feel crazy! Like I’m losing control and feel overwhelmed all the time. There have even been studies on how multi-tasking negatively affects ..read more

Being Thankful for the Hard Things

Today I want to talk about the importance of being mindful, especially on a day like Thanksgiving but this is also something we should practice all year round. All 365 days of the year we should live with a grateful heart and be thankful for any and all blessings in our lives. Gratitude in Busy Seasons Always keep in mind that perspective is everything and you really can control a lot with your mind and how you look at things. I try to be mindful of that in my everyday life, especially recently, because things are really, r ..read more

MomCom(munication): Where's the Confusion?

I’m realizing that my social interactions have changed quite a bit since I became a mom. What I mean by that is, I’ve noticed that my attention and focus is so much on my kids all the time when I’m with them, that when I’m not with them I feel like I’m still in that same mode and can’t shut it off. Anyone else? What Mom-to-mom Interaction Looks Like When I’m with my kids, I’m constantly having to look out for their safety (they’re 4 1/2, 2 1/2, and 6 months), and I feel like no matter what else I am doing, my focus is on th ..read more

I’ve been looking at myself lately and realizing that my social interactions have changed quite a bit since I became a mom. What I mean by that is, I’ve noticed that my attention and focus is so much on my kids all the time when I’m with them, that when I’m not with them I feel like I’m still in that same mode and can’t shut it off. Trust Yourself, Live Your Happy

“Trust yourself as a mom” is my best advice to all moms, but new moms especially because they're the ones who usually don't know what to expect with motherhood. If you're not a mom yet, you'll know what this means when you are a mom. AVOID THE COMPARISON GAME A lot of us moms tend to fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to other moms, and it's only natural because we all want to be the best mom we can be. The grass is not always greener, the saying goes, but you always think that you could be doing something better or ..read more

Hiring Help as a Mompreneur

Things are changing and evolving in so many ways in my life right now. I’m adjusting to being a mom of three still so I’m managing two older ones who are in school and have activities outside of school, plus taking care of a newborn which is a full-time job in itself. And then I have my blog and conference which I’m planning, as you all know. Then, I’m also managing a home remodel that’s still happening. The interior is almost done (thank God!), but I’m now furnishing the interior, so there’s that, and I’m also managing part of the exterior remodel. It’s a lot happening right now ..read more

My NICU Experience

So in sticking with the theme of sharing openly and authentically to support the moms in our happy mom community, I wanted to share a very personal story that I've talked a little bit about on the blog before, but not as candidly. And it involves Ryan's birth story. NICU AWARENESS MONTH In honor of NICU Awareness Month, I want to go a little deeper into my experience with Ryan’s birth, specifically with him being taken away to the NICU right after he was born. When you’re pregnant for the first time, you’re already nervous ..read more
