It’s pretty unusual to haphazardly google a particular berry and fall down a rabbit hole of compelling information. I was expecting to uncover some health benefits, sure, but nothing nearly as impressive as what black currants have to offer. The holidays wouldn't be the same without family traditions, and Petee's Julekake is no exception.    Julekake is a Norwegian Christmas Bread baked with cardamom, raisins, orange peel, and candied citron. Unique and forgotten, Nesselrode pie was a New York signature in the 1940’s through 1960’s, and holds the appeal of something nostalgic you can’t find anywhere else. This is a pie that quickly blew up the New York food scene, but disappeared completely almost as rapidly as it had arrived.
