Recommended marketing approach for a small plumbing and heating firm

Hi all - the firm in question is well established and ticking over. The website is dreadful and is being re-worked. SEO has been ineffective and not done well. They've been paying for some time for Google ads with little end result. Their Facebook company page is a mess and needs sorting out (or removing). They do have a Google business profile. There are local competitors who are more effective at search engine strategies as well as the big players like British Gas. They cover a limited... Read more ..read more

Hiring US Based Freelancers/Subcontractors From Abroad?

In my home country, I have started a successful solo Air Conditioning cleaning business. I have created a very unique and compelling sales pitch, and it has worked wonders so far. I no longer do any of the sales or the cleaning myself, I have hired people as independent contractors/freelancers to do everything. I have a couple of people that do door-to-door/face to face sales on commission; they get a fixed amount of money for every client they secure. And there are a couple of people who do... I am an employee for a business and i am a director of another business with the directors of the company i am employed by which is about to start trading. Trademarking clothing store, confused by the goods and services section.

I'm rebranding soon and have decided to trademark the business name (i've secured the domain already) because I had issues in the past with a copycat and would just feel more comfortable trademarking this time round. I'm aware that defending a trademark can be a lengthy and costly process, but I'm hoping it works as a deterrent at least. My store is online only and acts as a stockist/retailer for small clothing brands, mostly women's clothing with some accessories like socks and bags. I'm... Read more ..read more

Is it legal to own and use a fireman drop key to access flats?

Hi I'm volunteering for a leaflet run in my local area to raise awareness of a local charity event. We have a lot of flats in the area and we can access these blocks for drops if we go before 12pm and use the trades button. I saw RM staff use something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fire-Brigade-Firemans-Drop-Key/dp/B004ZPASJE To access blocks. Is it OK for a leaflet dropper to use these keys ..read more

Getting started (from an inventory and business planning POV)

I have a web property with decent authority and social followings. I think there is an e-commerce opportunity in this niche and I have the capital to get started on it. Problem is my expertise is marketing/SEO, I have done e-commerce before but not taken it seriously so idk what I'm doing. Current plan (please roast): Build out the e-commerce functionality. Probably on Woocommerce, unless this is a terrible idea? Magento looks like pain, Shopify is hard to customize, hard/impossible... Read more ..read more

Gross Misconduct?

I run a pub and have an amazing small team of employees, bar one. I have tried to be objective with issues, and I don't actually like her personally, but she does a good job. However, she has been drinking while on shift behind the bar. When I found out about this via a customer, and then another staff member, I spoke to her about it, saying that drinking on shift was not acceptable. We have a way of working on the staff area wall, which all have read and signed, that states no drinking... Read more ..read more
