Hello my friends this video has been a very long time coming. Its been years since I have done an updated studio tour and rundown so I figured today was a good day to catch up! The reason it's taken so long to do something like this is because I've always been so overwhelmed at the idea of doing it right........ So instead of making a big production out of things we're going to keep it cool and casual and just see what catches out attention as we go. Thats the only way this is ever getting done! The most important part of my studio is the @squarpinstruments Hapax sequencer. The Hapax is connec ..read more

Beautiful Psychedelic Patterns: LZX Double Vision + Korg Entrancer

Today, I did a lot of thinking about feedback loops. One of my favourite things to do is experiment with video feedback and the infinite patterns it can generate, so I reorganized my video gear to give me some new and interesting loops that would interact with each other. Here is how everything is working together: The @lzxindustries Double Vision is our main pattern generator and is the start of our triquetra with a few internal feedback loops that we will patch in. Mainly the shape generator is creating simple patterns that we can elaborate on with the Ribbons and Stairs modules. The Double ..read more

Synth Tricks: Synthesizing other synths through the MicroKORG

The MicroKORG is a very very cool synth in the sense that you can use it to create very interesting hybrid instruments like combining it with the ARP2600 By connecting the MicroKORG's MIDI out to the MIDI in of your synth and then connecting the audio output of your external synth into the audio input (2) of the MicroKORG you can play your 2nd machine from within the synth engine of the microkorg-- free to use its envelopes, filters, and effects So for this video all the sounds you hear (for the most part) are coming directly from the ARP and then are being pushed through the subtractive synth ..read more

How to make layered sounds on MicroKORG (and adding effects)

The MicroKORG Crystal is whats holding my interest these days, go figure. the OG MK was my very first synth so going back to it feels like a return to the basics for me and it's like riding my favourite bike from when I was a kid. The MicroKORG is actually a very powerful synthesizer compared to a lot of whats available today. It may only have 4 voices, but you can still split them into two layers and create pads with layered arps on top which is my favourite. After we've made our sound Ive got everything routed through the Hologram Chroma Console and Microcosm for some ambient effects and chi ..read more
