Spectraphon Linear Array Modulation!! Get the firmware here: https://www.makenoisemusic.com/firmware/ Last time we created several Arrays from the same sonic matter but with different modulations during their creation, then heard the difference as we modulated the various Arrays with the same modulator. This time let’s flip that around, we’ll create a single Array and hear how it sounds when we alter the modulator. By inscribing a simple rhythm into our Array we can use Slide modulation to evoke something along the lines of classic "ratcheting." http://www.makenoisemusic.com ..read more

On Sept. 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene ravaged Western North Carolina. We are still without water. Neighbors created flush brigades and set up tanks with non-potable water. Our job descriptions now include picking up spring water bottles for drinking/hand washing and fill buckets with non-potable water for toilets. We are so grateful for all of the folks bringing water into West Asheville, and to our crew for rolling with it. Our rural neighbors don't have as much access to these resources even though the people are working hard. If you are able to give, consider these groups: Beloved: https://ww ..read more

“We thought of our circuits as characters in a script, and used the unfolding of pitches as they came out of the circuit. We didn’t control the pitches at all. The emotions which seemed to come out of the circuit, such as romance, monsters, space travel, were almost always in uppermost importance. Each circuit we built had lifespans of their own… “We always were innocents with a sense of wonder and awe at the beauty coming from the circuits… we would just sit back and let them take over. We didn’t want to control them at all. We were in a very receptive state, like that of a child working with ..read more

What if instead of monitoring slightly detuned oscillators together, we use them as modulators for each other? There’s a good chance that the periodic phase drifts will start to sonically stick out more than when they are simply summed. The places where they go out of phase may show up in sharper contrast, in other words. Jump straight to the patch by going to 6:45 http://www.makenoisemusic.com ..read more
