VAR is so rubbish.
I tuned in for injury time, just in time to see another match ruined.

I recently came across this documentary from the late 90s.
The main key points from it seem to be, the issue of violence against referees and issues of recruiting and retaining referees. It seems like not a lot has changed in the last 25 years or so. I also wonder how those in the documentary progressed/stayed involved in refereeing ..read more

Brych was officiating his 344th Bundesliga game, which tied a record. He was injured in the 33rd minute of the Eintracht Frankfurt game, with 28 year old Patrick Schwengers stepping in at the start of the 2nd half in his Bundesliga debut.
Best wishes to Dr. Brych on his recovery. Hopefully, he will recover in a manner to conclude his elite refereeing career on his terms instead of this injury dictating the end of his career.

Just after a bit of a straw poll here, I know it's subjective but I'm interested in what other refs think as I've not had this happen before.
Level 6 ref going up to 5 this season.
I'm quite chatty on the pitch, giving players an idea of if the things they are doing are likely to result in a free kick at some point (e.g arms in the back but not pushing, I'll tell the player to watch their arms because if they push it's gonna be a foul, good tackle but make sure you play the ball or its gonna...
