I was playing in a uni game yesterday, when we won a corner, but the ref awarded it as a goal kick to the opposite. I couldn’t tell, I thought it was our ball but I was much further away than the ref, and we’d had a lot of 50-50 stuff go against us. However, it doesn’t excuse what our striker did next, when he screamed at the top of his lungs “you’re a ****ing retard ref.” Alarm bells ring in my head, we’re 1-0 up after 40 mins and suddenly we’re going to be down to 10 men. And the ref... Read more ..read more

Appointments officer funny moment

The past month has been a laugh with appointment officers. Firstly: I enter month 10 of attempting to register to run the line with a regional league I’ve been told by countless colleagues to register with. Still no reply and yes it’s the right person and yes I’ve tried their phone. Second: a usually very good and organised officer has just stopped replying to emails and then complained when I went to his deputy to get assigned a game because he went AWOL for weeks. Third: an officer... Read more ..read more

That Everton 2 - 0 Liverpool result tonight

Who predicted such a win for Everton tonight?! I thought Liverpool would win this critical game for them, but presenter Kelly Cates did say that Liverpool don't tend to win at Everton's stadium, so perhaps not so surprising. While Liverpool can still technically win the league now, I think it's all over for them and every pundit was saying that too. They're still likely to end up in the top four though, so they'll still have done very well. I want Arsenal to win the cup, so I hope they hold... Read more ..read more

Dodgy lines

Turned up to a Wednesday night U14 game for my local league this evening only to find there were no lines marked on the pitch. Just 2 goal posts and that’s it. There was a rounders and 9 a side pitch horizontally across where my pitch was meant to be. A young lad (11-12) had a white spray paint can and had a good go at drawing on some lines but the rest had to be done with cones. This is what I was working with for the edge of the 18 yard box. https://imgur.com/a/s5Qtkqx (Wouldn’t let me... Read more ..read more

morning all. I've had my spinsto for 12 months now and the battery icon has been flashing for a few months now, so assuming the battery needs changing. I've spoken to a few refs and they've said that changing the battery is a nightmare and to take it to a watch repair to have the batteries ( I understand there's more than 1) changed. Anyone changed there batteries, is it just a simple thing to do or would you reccomend taking somewhere to be done Thanks ..read more

I'm aware that respect handshake is to be used at grassroots. Just out of interest how many actually implement it. Or at what level do you start implementing it. In my experience I don't see it at the vast majority and the players would find it ott in all honesty ..read more

Goal kick taken in wrong place

Last night I was AR. GK placed the ball at least 1 yard outside the 6 yd box and looked across at me before it was kicked. I signalled to move the ball back which he did. 2 mins later same scenario apart from a defender placed the ball there. The GK looked to me again but before he could move the ball the defender took the Goal kick. I raised my flag immediately but this wasn’t seen by the referee until the attacking cream had regained possession and was about to enter the penalty area... Read more ..read more

Jackson very lucky boy to get away with a caution for challenge. But think he's equally lucky to escape a caution for the handball. But I'd imagine their get out would be he was protecting himself rather than trying to score ..read more
