Is there anything like a ER-1 that also has sampled sounds?
I love drum synthesizers, the UI of the ER-1 was so simple and instantly gratifying. It would have been awesome to have been able to use samples in place of or addition to the oscillator and/or noise generator.

What is happening to your synths after you die? I think it's a weird problem we leave to our loved ones, and few of us have made arrangements for it. All of us tend to have weird very personalised setups which are baffling to most people. It's almost impossible to explain to relatives the difference between a 1970s Moog Model D and a Behringer Poly D from 2022 and what the prices should be. My bandmate died and his Polymoog, well, I'm not even sure where it went. "Broken electric keyboard" on eBay probably.
Are you leaving it all as a big pile of mysterious tech to someone you know? A younger ..read more

Hi everyone,
I was a musician who used to play the acoustic piano, but lately, I've been playing again thanks to my band using a basic keyboard in rehearsal rooms and live performances. While I am still using my acoustic piano at home, I'm exploring the idea of using a less basic keyboard or a synthesizer to expand my sound possibilities during live performances with my band. I would like to be able to play the piano or other instruments and add backing tracks like string chords when needed to create a fuller and more complex sound.
I'm aware that there are keyboards and synthesizers with man ..read more

I have a kurzweil k2500x with a floppy disk drive. If I can source some of the floppy disk that go to it, will I really get anything extra that's worth it compared to without? (Yes I know you can convert it to usb, but I'm not about to do all that work)

Mods delete this if this doesn’t belong in the sub. I have a small setup to make electronic music. Ableton, novation launch key, korg minilogue xd. I want to expand to a small hardware set up and I was dead set on buying a Moog Minitaur for the low end and a Circuit Tracks to control both hardware synths and add drums. Only now, despite having researched synths for the last few years, is the algorithm showing me videos for the Push controllers. The Push 3 is a little out of my price range so I haven’t bothered looking into it but the 2 is right around the same price as Circuit tracks. The har ..read more

Which would you pick and why?
If I could only have one synth which one should I purchase? Like something very versatile. Of course, one synth can’t do it all. But a very versatile one.
