That said, we can still get our dose of motor-show goodness because Volkswagen is giving a digital tour of its booth at the Geneva International Motor Show. Yes, the booth we didn’t get to see because the said show was...well, canceled. PHOTO: Volkswagen You can choose to walk around the VW booth’s nine different sections, or you can click on the play button to let the tour move on its own. It’s a pretty immersive experience, esp ..read more

The current Mercedes-Benz S-Class might be on its way out, but it's still a solid car

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is, without a doubt, the benchmark big luxury sedan, the one Audi, BMW, Lexus, Cadillac, and even Jaguar and Maserati must define themselves by and be measured against. This car defines the sector and is the one all others must topple. The latest A8 and 7-Series are both much newer than the S-Class and thus have some exceptionally clever tech on-board, but while both are excellent cars in their own right, neither is quite as special as the big Merc. A facelift in 2017—this generation’s last before it’s replaced by an entirely new S-Class—gave many new things. Chief a ..read more

If we had tails, they’d be wagging. A company called Alauda has announced it is one step closer to developing a revolutionary new motorsport series that is taking up far too much of our current thought process than necessary. Electric. Flying. Car. Racing. PHOTO: TopGear.com That’s right. Electric cars. Up in the air. Racing. The series is called Airspeeder—first revealed last summer—and Alauda has secured a ‘seed investment round,’ which sounds... important? Yes. Important. Very. The series itself sounds excellent, too. It’ll fuse the worlds of science fiction and gaming, we’re assured—th ..read more

Gripe as much as you want, but being out and about taking advantage of all the open roads at the moment is hardly an activity one would consider an essential service. Our advice: Listen to authorities and stay at home unless it absolutely can’t be helped. And no, satisfying your need for speed does not count as something that can’t be helped. Hell, if the Stig can keep himself from getting behind the wheel as the world deals with COVID-19, you can, too. Look: [youtube:{"videoId":"null","youtubeId":"k_uwf9IrFLk", "caption":""}] The video above gives us a glimpse into the life and routine of th ..read more

A quarter of the planet’s population, or about 500 million individuals—this is the estimated number of people infected by the Spanish flu when it swept through the globe from 1918 to 1920, and between 50 to 100 million of those who caught it perished. Now, ask yourself: How much did you actually know about the Spanish flu before COVID-19 cases began sprouting up in countries left and right? Chances are your answer is something along the lines of “not much.” We don’t blame you. After all, it did happen about a century ago. The thing is, that span counts for very little in the grand scheme of ..read more

Have you been driving your car enough lately? Chances are, the answer is no. With the ongoing global pandemic that is COVID-19, you’re also probably stuck at home like most of us. That means if you have a daily driver in your garage, then that car hasn’t been driven around as much as it was before this entire Luzon-wide quarantine happened. More so if you have more than one car in your garage. That also means that it’s prone to some issues already—battery discharge, first and foremost. If you haven’t fired up your car since this quarantine began, then your battery may well be in need of a ch ..read more

Pasig City LGU gives safety reminders amid increase of cyclists on the road
Top Gear Philippines
by Leandre Grecia

The Pasig City local government has consistently found ways to provide its citizens—especially frontline healthcare workers—some transport alternatives during this enhanced community quarantine. Part of the LGU’s initiatives includes the deployment of bicycles to its constituents. With the total ban on all public transport, these bikes prove useful tools for frontliners, especially those who reside in the tighter areas of the city which buses and other shuttles can’t reach. Not only that, but the roads are much less congested these days, making the city’s streets more conducive for cyclists ..read more
