Looking for some tips, advice and anything to help me rewire this clients mindset
So I have a client she’s eating 1500 calories per day. Well so she believes.
I believe her maintenance sits around 2100
Her diet is heavily processed. Doesn’t consume much fruit veg and all her meals are pre bought items.
I encouraged whole food but she isn’t into the health side and is really only looking for weight loss :/
she is getting upset as she isn’t losing despite eating 1500 calories
Personally I don’t believe she is. Dieting myself on 1500, and I follow a whole food diet, I find that challenging. If I ..read more

I recently passed the NASM exam using the self study program which took about 4 months to complete. It was the cert most gyms here in Hawaii said they wanted in order to hire me. Seems I can easily get hired at one of the few big box gyms here with just my cert alone and have known people who have done this. In doing more research towards the end of my studies and since, I am realizing my cert is just the beginning of a process to prepare me to be a successful trainer. I also have a experience as a certified massage therapist of 10 years (anatomy, phys, kinesology).
Im wondering what practica ..read more

I was a PT for 2 years before becoming a Gym manager.
Ive been in the role for 4-5 months and have noticed the impact both on my mental and physical health.
Mentally feeling lethargic and slow
and constantly eating to the point its not for hunger. Ive always had a history of this but had this toned down from 2021-2023 but since being a manager this disordered eating has come back and I don't know what to do.
I go with my Gf every week I'm sat on my desk most the time I'm feeling stressed and overworked I've gotten fat and its affecting my health
Ive completely lost the desire to even train, I ..read more

What’s up everyone! As part of my YouTube channel series on what it's like working at different major gym chains, I’m currently making a video on what it’s like working at Equinox.
I was hoping to get some feedback from all of you who currently either work at Equinox , or have in the past.
What was your experience like working at Equinox? How was the pay? Do you mind explaining the pay structure? Would you work there again? Was working there a positive experience?
If you'd be open to chatting 1:1, that's also something I'm setting up with people who are open to being interviewed for the video ..read more

Good PTs. Step your marketing game up!
These past few weeks I met people who are actually very fit but offered bro science programs. I had a man who lost 50lbs & gas visible defined abs try and tell me that deadbugs don't work your abdominal muscles (at all).
Had a curvy woman PT offer me a horrendous program.
Both of these PTS had over 12k social media followers.
Copy/paste meal plan of like 1,200-1,500 calories for everyone to lose weight. It's like they're selling trash programs but of course the people are losing weight - they're eating the bare minimum. What about movement efficiency ..read more

Recently, after a while of working out and it leading to my upper body being way bigger than my lower body, i did some research. I believe that by reducing the weights and heightening the reps for upper body days whilst doing the opposite for legs may help me recomp my body? On leg days I’d also try to consume more than my body weight in protein and a slight surplus in calories. Thoughts?

For some reason, I’ve had a few people (only a handfull after doing hundreds of consultations) call me pushy, or tell me (or my manager ?) that I ‘only want to sell’ and blah blah blah and I can not see how.
I specifically work to not be pushy. For example I only recommend more sessions or specific packages if the client asks first.
For example a consultation will go like this
greet the client and do general chit chat
ask them about their goals, experience etc etc
show them a few basic excersises that’d ve usefull for them
return to my office and ask if they have any questions
answer them. A ..read more
