Do You Ever Thank Your Food?

As I sat down for lunch today, I looked at this simple plate of food I prepared: fresh vegetables, chicken and a toast of ricotta with honey. I felt incredible happiness & excitement, to the point of taking a photo (even if it’s not IG worthy) and sending it to my person. Isn’t it special that something so simple can awaken such positive feelings? It made me feel happy to be alive. So, I thank you beautiful food growing on our incredible planet ..read more

Making Up With Morocco

I felt the need to write on this quiet Sunday morning in Marrakech. I have been staying in Morocco for three weeks already with one more week to go. This is the longest time I have ever spent here as an adult. To give you a bit of context, I was actually born in Rabat, Morocco. But as soon as I turned one, I was on my way to becoming a tiny Canadian. My whole childhood featured visits every few years back to the homeland I would see & experience through my parents. They loved the country and only left it when I was a baby to give my sister & I broader life opportunities. So it was alw ..read more

Day Trip To Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park

Two weekends ago, I had the chance of going on yet another day trip with the help of Navette Nature. This time, I purchased a ticket for the Discovering the West of Montreal outing in collaboration with the City of Montreal. I was excited to see this park, knowing that it will be part of the future Grand parc de l’Ouest, an urban park that will be eight times bigger than New York’s Central Park. #govalerieplante The bus actually offered three stops: Ste-Anne-De-Bellevue, Écomuseum & Cap-Saint-Jacques. After reviewing the map of the park though, I felt like six hours in the same location w ..read more

Day Trip To Îles-de-Boucherville National Park

I have been meaning to visit Îles-de-Boucherville National Park for so damn long. It’s the closest Sépaq park to the city, as it only requires a 30 minute drive. This year, Navette Nature has been offering free shuttles from downtown Montreal through a collaboration with a bank. All you have to pay is the park entry fee of $8.75 which helps support Sépaq. The departure is every Friday at 9am from Square Dorchester (close to Peel metro) and the return is around 4pm. Îles-de-Boucherville is mostly known as a kayak location, as you can go around the islands in about 3 hours. Of course, on the da ..read more

Dealing With My Anxiety From Climate Change

Climate change is real and it is the biggest crisis our generation will be faced with. This is such a simple statement yet it is still being debated all over the world, mostly by privileged people who profit from harming our planet every day. We have been hearing about climate change and its many repercussions on our lives for many years now. For some people, this crisis has been unfolding for many decades already and I can’t imagine the weight of experiencing things getting worst every single day for so long. In my case, I just kept feeding myself with information, unsure of what to think or ..read more

Spring in Lake Louise & Banff, Alberta

It’s probably on every Canadian’s bucket list to make it to some part of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks one day. When I found a roundtrip plane ticket to Calgary for under $300, I knew it was finally happening for me! I gave myself six days mid-May to drive to Lake Louise for two nights and then head down to Banff for the rest of the trip. I was hoping to make it to Jasper as well but I realized it was too early in the season and lots of roads were still closed. Also, accommodations are much harder to find up north so it’s more interesting for campers. Calgary Since I was flying to a city ..read more

Here comes another year ?

Oh hello! It’s been a while… I turned 34 on Saturday and had the chance to celebrate my birthday with a few close friends at a nice summer picnic <3. Just like previous years, I felt the need to take some time to write about where I am in my life before starting yet another chapter. I started by looking for a photo to attach to this post and when I saw this one taken at my accommodation in Lake Louise*, I knew it was the perfect visual to represent how I feel starting this 34th year. It seems I have reached a place in my life where I can just be present, every day, instead of wondering wha ..read more

RISE Is Launching New Flavours For Spring

I love that my first event pre-Spring was all about kombucha. I discovered this gut healing drink while I was on a raw diet back in 2007. Since then, I drink it religiously and love trying new brands while I’m traveling. As for RISE, I have been a loyal & local customer ever since they launched, back in 2012. They really grew as one of the top leaders in North America, much more than I actually realized. After five years, the team behind this Montreal kombucha was super excited to share the new flavours they’ll be launching by mid/end of April in stores! So here’s a sneak peek before you ..read more

Getting Through Winter

Last year, I was 8 days away from jumping on a plane that would take me away to Bali. It’s become a tradition (& amazing perk) in my life to run away to warmer locations as the winter season settles in here. Because of a situation I wrote about in my previous post, I have to stay close to Montreal for an unclear duration this year. While I can plan smaller & closer trips (see you in February New York ?), I’m pretty much spending 95% of my time in the city during its coldest days. Even after living close to my whole life here, I can still say that I hate winter with a passion and no ou ..read more

My 2018 Review
Montreal State | Slow Living At Its Best

What a year 2018 has been.. It feels like the past twelve months have been challenging everything that I know and have established in my life. The year actually started on a high note with the most beautiful & healing solo trip for two months. But then, I came back home for a canceled work contract. For months, I didn’t make any revenue and found myself living off savings I thought would never be touched. Mid-year, once work got back to normal, it’s my parents situation that got worse. I always feel weird about writing about this publicly but I also found that not keeping these things a se ..read more
