For those of you who haven’t been following our home renovations, when we built our sunroom extension way back in 2022, we unearthed a beautiful layer wood underneath our pink bricks (don’t ask me, I don’t know why) that needed to come out. When we first bought our old house back in 2016, one of the first things I did was replace all the boring, ugly, builder grade light fixtures. Still, there are a couple of spots in the house where I knew I was putting in temporary lights that would eventually get replaced again. I have to be honest. I never imagined that my makeup life and Huda Beauty would ever cross paths. I have dabbled in her mini eyeshadow palettes in the past. I own the Lilac Obsessions and Mint Obsessions palettes, and I think they’re great! But that’s where I thought Huda and my makeup lives met and parted. Basements. They’re cold, they’re dark, they’re dank. If you don’t have an attic, the ghosts in your house are definitely congregating in the basement. Also, spiders. And house centipedes. I say all this to illustrate my belief that making a warm, cozy, inviting basement space is no easy feat. The backyard is one of my never-ending works in progress. It’s been about 7 years since we moved in and I think it’s pretty much unrecognizable to when we bought the house.
