Church Architecture

So, I love architecture and marvel at the great cathedrals of Europe. I have never seen an esthetically pleasing Adventist church building. Most are either butt ugly (look up Pasadena SDA Church in Pasadena, MD) or just okay. Anybody know of one that is not ugly or boring? I know it's all conjecture. submitted by /u/PrincessWolfie1331 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Am I the only one who has recurring dreams about being back in sda boarding high-school? It’s always like I’ve decided to leave and I’m always packing up and about to leave… but I’ve had these dreams for like 5 years straight. submitted by /u/drinkbeerskitrees [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

For those who were born/raised SDA, how long did it take you to realize you wanted out?

I was born and raised SDA, and it didn't take me long to know that I did not like religion. I knew something was off as young as my toddler years, but I gaslighted myself into thinking that I was wrong and that I had no choice but to stay (especially when you have no choice but to follow your parents when you're a kid). It didn't help that I wasn't around the secular world very much either for the longest time. My parents did a good job isolating me from the outside world. It took me until my teens to really start deconverting and tell myself it will all be ok. I'm just curious how long it to ..read more

Adventist School Shenanigans

So my sister's school had a Reading Month and the faculty decided to reward the kids for their hours of reading by letting them watch a movie and the movie they picked was a Little Light Ministries documentary. I'm curious, do these people legitimately hate children or are they dumb enough to think kids enjoy watching low budget paranoia porn? I hated watching them when I was in school when they were mandatory viewing at school assemblies. Who the fuck would pick that shit as a reward? submitted by /u/DatSpicyBoi17 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Dealing with my parents when I head off to college..

Hi everyone, I posted this on r/exChristianity, but wanted some more feedback on my dilemma. I’m a senior in my last few weeks of high school and I will be attending a college soon and living away from my parents, which I’m so excited about and can’t wait! However, I’ve run into a big problem and don’t know what to do. My parents are strict Seventh-day Adventists and I’m obviously attending a non Adventist school, but my parents expect me to go to church every Saturday while going to college! I can’t avoid going especially since my parents unfortunately have a tracking app on my phone (Life36 ..read more

I found a copy of ''The Great Controversy Ended' at a friends take a book leave a book area in their apartment lobby a couple months back. I thought about taking it and throwing it out because no one needs to be exposed to that garbage but didn't want to be a "book burning" type of person so put it back. Thought about it a bunch and decided it's ok to dispose of adventist literature left in public places so pulled that one off the shelf this weekend and feel I'm making the world a better place by doing so. This isn't the first time I've found and tossed SDA books or flyers and skimming a bit ..read more

I mean, is it worth the bother, or is it just old Adventism airbrushed with a new layer of postmodernism and culture? Example: https://atoday.org/crosswalk-church-the-2024-experience-conference-part-1/ submitted by /u/Crenshaw11R [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

SDA to Another Denomination or Religion, or Atheist

I couldn’t think of a title for what I want to say which is: if you’re an SDA who is now some other mainstream Christian or religion, fantastic. If you went all the way and are now atheist, great. I’m an optimistic nihilist and that works for me. What I dislike is someone making claims of knowledge when they have zero evidence to back it up. If you’re a Christian now and you can tell me, “Yourmama18, it all comes down to faith.” “I like the idea of eternal life and happiness and so just based on faith I accept it’s real.” “Faith in the Bible is like a currency, and you wouldn’t need it if the ..read more
