Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse

It has been a while since I last blogged. I am planning on blogging again now a little more frequently - with some travel content in between.  Jacobs & Co. Steakhouse is one of my favorite steakhouses in Toronto. We have been fortunate to have been able to dine here on several occasions, and have mostly enjoyed our dining experiences. There was perhaps only one time - where the service was lackluster when compared to the high-end standards service that they're known for (which took place two years ago). Nonetheless, it is a nice place for a splurge dinner, but it's definit ..read more

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is a memorial park located in the center of Hiroshima, Japan. The park is dedicated to the memories of the bomb's direct and indirect victims. As a result of WW2, Hiroshima was the first city in the world to suffer a nuclear attack, and it resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries.  The entire park is located in the center of Hiroshima and covers an area that was close to the hypo-center of the blast (which was once a commercial district). The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is a little over 120,000 square with several memorial sights including the Pe ..read more

[Hotel] InterContinental Lisbon

The InterContinental Lisbon was our home away from home for the week in Lisbon. The luxury property is located in one of the best locations in the city, as it's centrally in the city center. The hotel itself faces Edward VII Park, and close by to the metro. However, I do not recommend walking to the hotel from the train or metro station if you have luggage. There was a very steep walk-way up to the hotel, so taking an Uber or taxi may be best.  We booked the One Bed Premium room with the member rate, which was 255.60 euros per night ($392.55 CAD/night). You can sign up for th ..read more

[9/18/2020] As a result of COVID-19, the borders remain closed, and Japan is currently not accepting any overseas tourists from Canada. Ever since I was young, one of the destinations on my bucket list was Tokyo. I finally checked that off my list in December 2013, and I loved every moment of it. Since then, we have been fortunate to be able to go back to Japan a few more times. As of last year, J and I, have visited 19 cities and 4  prefectures in Japan. I know that some people prefer the main cities, but I also enjoy checking out less-known cities as well.  While it is impossible ..read more

[Lifestyle] Instagrammable Spots in Toronto

Today on the blog, I’m sharing some instagrammable places in Toronto, Ontario. Oxford Dictionary defines instagrammable as "visually appealing in a way that is suitable for being photographed for posting on the social media application Instagram." I can't say that everyone aims to take aesthetic photos for their social media feed, but you will find that a lot of people do like to share their lives online these days. As an avid traveler, I love seeing the world. However, I am proud to call Canada, more specifically Toronto my home, as the city has a lot more to offer than just the CN Tower, and ..read more

Woodford Reserve x RS

Woodford Reserve is a brand of premium small batch Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced in Woodford County, Kentucky. A couple of months ago, I was invited to attend a Woodford Reserve x Richmond Station collaboration dinner. Woodford Reserve collaborated with the restaurant to create a menu that fully complements the flavor of the bourbon with the dishes already on the restaurant's menu. Bourbon has many flavor characteristics, so it's not a surprise that the notes pair very well with many of the dishes that night.  Richmond Station is an upscale farm-to-table restaur ..read more

The public outcry over the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, has sparked a storm of protests all across the country. Americans are not alone, as protests in response to his death have also spread across the world, as many other countries have expressed solidarity with the American protestors and the black community.  Like many others who viewed the video of Floyd's death, I was sad and outraged that another unarmed African-American man was murdered in cold blood for using a   counterfeit $20 bill. Since when do police have the power of judge, jury, and executioner ..read more
